Today, we’re announcing our fifth National Player of the Week of the 2024 campaign. This was a very competitive week in determining the POTW honor, as just about the entire country has their season well underway. It made for a tough selection for the latest National POTW award as a result, as several names were in the mix for this week's honor.

The following players were submitted by their coaches to their states through an official ‘Player of the Week’ form. Our staff took player stat lines from the week of March 25 to 31 into account when determining these awards.

🏆 NATIONAL POTW

Layton Bryan MIF / RHP / Chickasha, OK / 2025 “Bryan takes this week's award after a dominant performance on the mound, adding a consistent presence in the lineup as well. Last Tuesday, Bryan took the mound and threw a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits and one walk. While there were multiple arms last week that threw shutouts, nobody can match the eye-popping 21 strikeouts from Bryan meaning he literally picked up every out from the game via the strikeout. Bryan also finished the week going 7-for-15 and adding seven RBIs to the tally to sweeten the deal, and earn this week's in-state honor.” – Scott Hood, Oklahoma Scouting Director

Alabama

+ Wes Walker, C (Priceville HS, 2024) | North Alabama:
“Walker was 11-for-18 (.611) last week with four home runs and four doubles while driving in 11 runs. He also walked five times and he threw out three would-be base stealers at second base. Additionally, one of his homers was the game-winner in an important area matchup.”

Arizona

+ Jaxon Valdez, 1B/RHP (Williams Field HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Valdez got the start on Thursday against Casa Grande and he went the distance, tossing seven shutout innings as the Blackhawks took home a 12-0 victory. In the seven frames, Valdez allowed just three hits, one walk and he struck out nine. The previous night, the uncommitted two-way also worked one inning out of the bullpen without surrendering a run.”

Arkansas

+ Peyton Coffman, RHP/C (Russellville HS, 2024) | Missouri State-West Plains JC:
“Coffman is a two-way player who has helped Russellville all year on the mound, as well as at the plate. This past Thursday, Coffman took the mound and threw a no-hitter in eight innings, allowing just one walk and he punched out 11 in the win. We've seen Coffman with a mid-80s fastball that runs and sinks, along with a breaking ball that he's comfortable throwing in any count. Coffman also went 1-for-4 last Tuesday with an RBI double against Greenbrier.”

Colorado

+ Easton Miller, RHP/OF (Fossil Ridge HS, 2024) | Air Force:
“Miller shut down a ranked team last week after tossing six innings of no-run baseball with 17 strikeouts, and he allowed just one hit and walked three. Fossil Ridge won this game 10-0 against Ponderosa and they are now 3-0 on the young season. Miller is an Air Force commit who is actively increasing his potential draft stock with a fastball in the low-90s along with a swing-and-miss slider.”

+ Zak White, RHP/OF (Centaurus HS, 2024) | St. Mary's:
“White turns in an exceptional week at the plate after going 12-for-16 with three home runs, two doubles, and he racked up 10 RBIs. The St. Mary's commit also has a fastball in the 90 mph range and he pitched four scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, two walks, and no hits allowed in Week Three. The senior has helped lead his Centaurus program to a solid 5-2 start and he is one to keep a close eye on in 2024.”

+ Jackson Lucas, LHP (Venice HS, 2025) | Troy:
“Lucas had a dominant outing in Week 6 in a 2-0 win over Sarasota. The junior southpaw threw a complete-game shutout with only one hit allowed – and that one hit didn't come until Sarasota was down to its final out. Lucas struck out 12 total batters in the victory.”

“Miraglia had a huge week for Palmer Trinity recording seven hits in twelve at-bats. In those seven hits were a home run, a triple, and three doubles. He also collected eight RBI and six runs scored.”

+ Adrian Jimenez, MIF (Parkview HS, 2024) | Virginia Commonwealth:
“Jimenez was a force for Parkview last week, going 8-for-10 with a pair of homers, seven RBIs, and he stole a base.”

“Hale pitched a pivotal Game Three against Tift, and with first place in the region on the line. In the end, he went 6.1 innings scoreless with just three hits allowed and he struck out six.”

+ Lincoln Mathis, LHP (Rocky Mountain HS, 2025) | College of Southern Idaho:
“Mathis, a College of Southern Idaho recruit, could not have been any better in his start on Friday against Centennial, as he was perfect over five innings while also racking up 12 punchouts. Mathis picked up 80 percent of his outs via the strikeout as the game went just five innings and the Grizzlies took home a 10-0 victory. It was the second straight quality start from the left-hander, picking up wins in both games, but Mathis turned out the best performance of his career to-date last week.”

“Foltz was the leader of the Rams' offense this past week as he picked up four hits in the team's two wins, with three of those going for extra-bases. The uncommitted junior blasted a homer against Century, along with a triple in each win, as Highland outsourced Pocatello and Century 24-1 combined. In total, Foltz went 4-for-6 in two games with a home run, two triples, five RBI, four runs scored, one walk and a HBP.”

+ Carter Vandever, C (Triad HS, 2024) | Uncommitted:
“The Triad Knights are a talented bunch from top to bottom, and one name that has been on a tear so far this spring for them is their catcher, Vandever. The uncommitted senior had a dominant week at the plate, going 7-for-17 with four home runs, one double, 10 RBIs and seven runs scored. For his efforts, he has been named as the latest Illinois Player of the Week.”

“Against one of the stronger teams in the state, Flinn fired six no-hit innings against Sandburg, scattering just two walks and punching out 11 along the way. The southpaw was pounding the zone, recording 61 of his 91 pitches for strikes.”

+ Wyatt Pennington, UTL/RHP (Avon HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Pennington earned our first Player of the Week honors this season after collecting seven hits in four games on Avon's spring break trip to Tennessee. Four of his seven hits went for extra bases, including two grand slams. In total, Pennington collected 15 RBIs in four games, helping Avon to a 3-1 start.”

“Thompson went 7-for-7 with a ground-rule double and one of the longest bombs of the spring in two games last week. He's also one of the top prospects in Kansas for his ability on the mound, in addition to his left-handed bat.”

“The Hutchinson CC commit continues to prove his is arguably the top pitchabilty arm in the state. Allen tossed an eight inning shutout with 11 strikeouts, only allowing three hits and one walk against the two-time defending state champs.”

+ Kellen Brandenburg, 1B (Central Hardin HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“He led the Bruins' offense by going 8-for-12 with a triple, home run, and 8 RBIs. In addition, Brandenburg drew five walks and scored nine runs during the five game stretch. For the season, the uncommitted right-handed hitter is hitting .433 with 13 RBIs and has struck out just four times while showing the plate discipline to draw 12 walks.”

“Thompson fired a complete-game, three-hit shutout in a win over Lafayette this past weekend in Florida. Thompson was dominant, allowing just three hits while racking up 15 strikeouts in the victory. For the season, Jackson has been nearly un-hittable, compiling a 4-0 record while allowing just six hits and striking out 55 in 25.1 innings pitched.”

+ Brody Trosclair, LHP (Thibodaux HS, 2025) | Northwestern State:
“Thibodaux had lost three out of their last five games heading into last Tuesday's district matchup with Destrehan, and junior lefty Trosclair came through in a big way for the Tigers. The Northwestern State recruit got the start and tossed seven innings of no-hit baseball with nine Ks and four walks to help charter the win, as Thibodaux eventually defeated Destrehan by a score of 2-1 in eight innings.”

+ Kaiden Broussard, 1B/LHP (Central Private HS, 2024) | Baton Rouge CC:
“Central Private went a perfect 4-0 last week and Broussard was a big reason for the Hawks success. The Baton Rouge CC recruit went 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate with three homers, a double, and 10 RBIs. The majority of his damage done was last Saturday in a big matchup with one of the top Non-Select D-II teams in Brusly. In that game alone, Broussard went 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs. He was also magnificent on the mound for the Hawks, as he earned the win, after tossing 6.2 innings, navigating past seven hits and a walk to allow just one earned run, and he K'd three.”

+ Andrew Williams, SS (Alcorn Central HS, 2024) | Itawamba JC:
“Williams has been very productive for the Bears this year and last week he kept it up by going 4-for-6 including three home runs, a double, eight runs scored, while driving in another nine runners. On the season the Itawamba CC recruit is hitting .348 with 16 RBIs.”

“Long turned in an excellent start with a 3-2 win over Itawamba AHS. The Southern Miss recruit threw seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits, and he K'd 16.”

+ Tanner Foertsch, RHP (Elkhorn South HS, 2024) | Doane:
“The Doane commit went six strong innings for the win in the Storm's 4-1 win over Papio South. Foerstch struck out 10, scattered 3 hits, and allowed just the lone run. In two starts this year, he's amassed 22 strikeouts in 11 innings. Foertsch is Prep Baseball Nebraska's No. 30-ranked prospect in the Class of 2024.”

“The uncommitted junior catcher had himself an impressive performance in a doubleheader against Norfolk. In the first contest, Sandy went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a home run, driving in three of the 10 runs. In the second game of the double dip, he went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and drove in five more runs. In total on the day: 6-for-7, five extra-base hits, and eight RBIs.”

+ Brady Dallimore, C (Palo Verde HS, 2025) | TCU:
“The Texas Christian commit claims Player of the Week for the second time in four weeks as he continues to flash his power, blasting a pair of home runs on the week, now up to five on the season.

Palo Verde went 3-0 on the week with two wins over Spring Valley and another against Carson as they outscored both opponents 35-5. Dallimore was once again the leader of the offense as he went 7-for-9 with four extra-base hits, two going over the fence, along with six RBIs, seven runs scored, and he walked twice.”

+ Mayson Reichartz, LHP (Palo Verde HS, 2024) | Uncommitted:
“Reichartz, an uncommitted senior, was as dominant as they come on the mound this past week as he got the start against Spring Valley last Thursday. The Panthers' left-hander went the distance, working five innings and he allowed no hits, one walk and punched out seven. It was Reichartz's best start this season as the win improved Palo Verde's record to 12-6 at the time.”

“Dominique and his Bryan Golden Bears got the 2024 season started off on the the right note, going 3-0 in the first week of play. Last week, the right/right prospect went pitched 11 shutout innings, earning two wins, allowing just six hits and three walks against 15 Ks. At the plate, he was 7-for-9 with a pair of doubles and he drove in five.”

“Davis has been on fire – he earned the honor of Texas' Hitter of the Week last week, and this week he is Pitcher of the Week. His stat line: 5-inning perfect game with 12 punchies. At the plate, Davis stayed hot by going 3-for-4 with two walks, two homers, a double, six RBIs, and three runs scored.”

+ Timothy Haynes, 3B/RHP (Lubbock Cooper HS, 2024) | Midland JC:
“The Midland College recruit was on fire this past week for the Pirates. In eight at-bats, he had four extra-base hits, including two homers. He also drove in six and reached on a free pass four times. Haynes is a big bat in the middle of the order for Lubbock Cooper, and he gets in the box ready to do damage. We saw him earlier this year at the Prep Baseball Invitational, and he is always a threat for extra bases.”

“Park typically will catch your eye with his bat or with his defending up the middle, but it was on the mound where the BYU commit did the most damage this past week. The right-hander went the distance in a 12-0 run-rule win over North Sanpete and he allowed just one hit, no runs, no walks and punched out 10 total.”

“Davies worked six strong innings against Woods Cross on Thursday and he was up to 93 mph with his fastball as well. The Orem right-hander picked up 13 strikeouts against just two walks, along with three hits allowed and two earned runs.”
