7/25/19

RakeCity and 29ers kicked off the 17U PBR at The Rock Championships with a good old fashioned pitchers duel. A pair of uncommitted 2020 arms dueled to a 2-0 RakeCity win, led by RHP Jared Novak (Benet, IL, 2020). Novak showed exceptional feel for three pitches and worked to induce weak contact all day cruising to an efficient complete-game win. Novak utilized a running fastball at 82-84 mph touching 85 throughout form a ¾ slot. His breaking ball and changeup complimented each other well with darting action to opposite sides of the plate.

3/15/19

Uncommitted. 6-foot-4, 200-pound lanky, projectable right-handed pitcher with long and loose levers. Long arm action, high ¾ slot. Works on line, sometimes lands with a stiff front leg. Fastball, live through zone, tendency to leave it up, 82-85 mph, touched 86 mph. Curveball, his go-to secondary on this day, got sharper as the game went on, 11/5 shape, 71-73 mph. Changeup, thrown at arm speed, 76-77 mph. Struck out four batters in four innings of work and allowed one run on three hits, two walks.

2/10/19

6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, extra-large frame with projection, long loose levers. Tall and fall delivery, regular effort, in rhythm and on line, squared landing. Arm action is long and loose, high ¾ slot, lively projectable arm action. Fastball played straight, 84-85 mph, finished hard when down. Curveball has 11/5 shape, gradual action, short tight shape, 70-73 mph. Changeup has fastball arm speed, aggressive with the pitch, 76-80 mph.

1/27/19

6-foot-5, 200-pound, right-handed hitting infielder with a long, athletic, highly-advanced build. 4.44 runner, home-to-first. At the plate, wide setup, leg-kick timing trigger. Swings with intent, present bat speed, long bat path and gap-to-gap approach. 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, reliable hands, fields out in front in body, long and loose arm action, from a high ¾ slot. Throws carried across the diamond and topped at 86 mph.

2/18/18

6-foot-4, 190-pound, right-handed pitcher, long projectable build with wide-shoulders. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands square and finishes athletically. Arm works long, loose and quick, gets extension out front and regular effort throughout. Fastball, late run and finish through the zone, thrown for strikes, sat 82-84 mph. Changeup is currently his best secondary offering; maintains arm speed, feel for the bottom of the zone, sinking action, sat at 73 mph. Curveball, gets underneath it at times, works 11/5, 67-70 mph.

1/28/18

6-foot-4, 195-pound two-way prospect with very projectable build, athletic frame. On the mound, smooth tall-and-fall delivery, throws on line, lands square, athletic finish. Loose actions from high ¾ arm slot, quick arm speed, maintains balance. Fastball, sink on downhill plane with arm-side run, accurate, 82-84 mph, highly projectable. Curveball, 11/5 break with conviction, thrown for strikes, 70-72 mph. Changeup, maintains arm speed, subtle sink, plus feel and arm action, 75-77 mph. Right-handed hitter, crouched setup, smooth load back into pronounced leg lift stride, keeps balance. Fluid, level swing, gap-to-gap contact; 90 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, long arm action from high ¾ slot. Athletic footwork, clean exchanges; 83 mph across the infield. 4.64 home-to-first as a runner.
