6-foot-1, 155-pound right handed pitcher, long frame, slight build, long limbs, shows some projection. Delivery shows rhythm, works mostly to his target, slight finish to first base side. Arm works quickly, loose arm action, high ¾ arm slot. Fastball has finish through the zone, pitched at 84-86 mph, touching 87 mph, held velocity through entire outing. Curveball showed good shape, 11/5 plane, above average action, shows feel, 70-73 mph, above average depth. Schulfer is a projectable arm with a slight build on an average frame and above average arm speed. Adding strength to his frame should increase velocity as his arm works cleanly and quickly. Schulfer looks to be one of the top arms in Wisconsin’s Class of 2014.
After seeing Schulfer twice in two weeks his appearance in the State Tournament was much sharper than his sectional outing. Schulfer’s fastball climbed to 89 mph while sitting at 86-88 mph for all six innings, featuring better life than previously seen as well as above average command. What was most impressive about Schulfer’s outing this time was his breaking ball. He showed the ability to get his curveball up to 77 mph with late, sharp, biting action. Working on an 11/5 plane Schulfer showed that he has the ability to get swing and misses when throwing this pitch in the strike zone. Schulfer generates a ton of arm speed for his size and many schools are beginning to take notice of the righty’s arm speed and breaking ball.

6/6/18 - Drafted in the 19th round, 574th overall by the Minnesota Twins.

5/13/18 - Narrow frame, wiry sloped shoulders, loose body type. Loose live arm, works from a slot, regular draw, long and whippy out front. Works deception into delivery, mixes in pause and hesitations at the top of balance point out of the windup. Fastball plays up with plus arm side run, swing and miss action, ranged 90-94 mph in the first, settled in 89-91 later in outing, erratic at times with most misses to arm side. Changeup has above average deception, fastball similar, will throw first pitch and behind in counts, 78-83 mph. Breaking ball has tight action, 83-86 mph, short sweep type action, works best as tight slider with 10/4 shape, matching arm slot, and complimenting fastball action. Overall showed a lively swing and miss arsenal that is bullpen ready, will need to harness fastball life, but currently showed he can get back into at bats with above average feel for his changeup, bullpen/setup guy. Worked 7.2IP, 4H, 3R, 5K, 2BB, 2HBP.
