Scott Hood
OK/MO/KS/ARK Assistant Scouting Director

With the summer coming to an end and schools starting back up for the fall semester, we take an updated look at the '24 class as they head into their senior campaigns.  The summer was full of big time events across the country and in our state that allowed us to get better looks at the senior class headed into the fall with a couple of players making big jumps and making some noise throughout the past couple of months.  We take a closer look at the class as a whole, a peak at the Top 10, 5 players that saw their stock rise in this update, and 5 new faces to the list.

As we stand right now there are 33 total commitments from Oklahoma in the 24 class with 18 being Division 1 commits, 14 juco commits, and one NAIA.  As we stand right now there are three remaining uncommitted prospects inside our top 20 and tons of big time talent scattered up and down the list.  This update includes an expanded list to 200 total players from across the state with plenty of available talent still left on the board.

RANKINGS RISERS

Cale Sudderth 1B / OF / Lone Grove , OK / 2024

The projectable 2-way prospect out of Lone Grove has always had the pieces of big potential on both sides of the ball and started to put them together more effectively over the past two months leading to an OSU commitment and rise in this installment of the rankings.  Sudderth has strong hands at the plate with power potential from the left side and has increased his bat to ball skills at a higher level giving the hit tool a nice boost.  On the mound he's working the fastball in the upper 80's from the left side and showing a much-improved breaking ball with more depth and action.

Julius Ejike-Charles OF / LHP / Heritage Hall, OK / 2024

The Tulane commit sees his stock rise in this rankings update moving up 16 spots to number 16 on the list.  He has always shown high levels of athleticism that are starting to show up in gameplay with the swing becoming one of the better left-handed strokes in the class.  An elite runner that can truly change the game with his speed, look for Julius to continue to make noise as he adds strength to his already elite athletic game.

Logan Smith SS / RHP / Rattan, OK / 2024

The recent Cowley County commit caught our attention when we saw him in the Class A State Championship game in May where he launched a solo homer in a pivotal moment.  He would then go on to impress at the OKC Sandlot Scout Day where the smooth left-handed stroke and smooth defensive actions catapulted him from 89th overall in our last installment to number 32 on the list.  Smith has all the right tools to compete for jobs at the next level but it's his ability to translate the tools into success in gameplay that is the real needle mover.

Robert Evans C / OF / Norman North, OK / 2024

Evans continues to see his stock rise in the last year moving from 83rd in the rankings to number 43 in this update.  Evans had a strong performance this spring for Norman North and continued to show high level catch and throw abilities at the Top Prospect Upperclass Games.  As one of the top defending backstops in the class, Evans also offers up some power from the right side of the plate with exit velocities approaching 96 mph and showing sneaky athleticism from his physical frame.

Cody Crull OF / LHP / Bixby, OK / 2024

Crull sees his stock rise in this rankings installment jumping from number 76 to number 48 after a strong spring for the 6A State Champions Bixby Spartans.  Crull plays with elite speed that he uses to cover a ton of ground in the outfield and started to see the hit tool came together as the spring continued.  It culminated with a big homer in the championship game showing what type of raw skills he possesses.  After getting some significant playing time at the Varsity level in 2023, don't be surprised to see him continue to make big jumps quickly.

TOP NEWCOMERS

Brock Streun RHP / 3B / Sallisaw, OK / 2024

Streun enters the rankings as one of the highest entries we've had in the past couple of years entering their senior year at number 16 on the list.  The Sallisaw right-hander caught our attention at the Arkansas Prospects scout day earlier this summer and continued to impress on the summer circuit routinely working the fastball in the upper 80's and low 90's to pair with a tight spinning slider with swing and miss action.  Standing at a physical 6-foot-3 and 195-pounds, Streun ranks as the second highest remaining unranked player in the 2024 class and shouldn't be for much longer.

Chance Owens OF / LHP / Yukon, OK / 2024

Not many players turned more heads in Oklahoma over the past couple of months than Chance Owens from Yukon.  Owens dominated in the box at the Oklahoma State Games picking up multiple hits and driving balls all over the yard.  The left-handed hitter has some of the best barrel control in the class and shows the ability to impact the games with his above average run tool.  Owens enters the rankings at number 37 in this update and with the type of buzz he created over the summer, don't be surprised to see him locked up at the next level soon.

Tagen Simon SS / 2B / Tushka, OK / 2024

We got our first look at the middle infielder from Tushka at the Oklahoma State Games where he started the day with one of the more impressive rounds of BP.  Simon has very quick hands through the zone and shows a very balanced and athletic swing throughout.  Defensively is where he really shined, making multiple high level plays look routine with great range and enough arm to remain on the left side of the infield in the future.

Keegan Robertson LHP / 1B / Rattan , OK / 2024

Robertson joins the rankings at number 47 as one of the more projectable left-handed arms in the class.  The recent Cowley County commit works the fastball in the mid 80's but is only starting to scratch the surface of what he's ultimately capable of.  He shows a strong three pitch mix with the changeup having the makings of a plus pitch.  Standing at a projectable 6-foot-4 and 180-pounds, look for Robertson to make big jumps in velo in the coming months and be a big piece for Rattan in their hopes of winning back-to-back state titles.

Zack Mullen RHP / OF / Dewar, OK / 2024

Mullen enters the rankings at number 49 on the list after an impressive junior campaign and summer circuit.  Those efforts would land him a commitment with Amarillo College in Texas thanks to his big time arm speed and strong attack on the mound.  Mullen comes right after hitters with a heavy titled fastball and sweeping breaking ball all while getting the most out of his lower half in the delivery.  His ability to rack up strikeouts in a hurry and strong projection on the mound earned him a top 50 entry into the list.
