OUTLOOK:

The Colts of Clements High School enter the 2019 season with a largely inexperienced squad as they will compete in 3A Area 16 with Lauderdale County and Lexington. Coach Kirk Murphy welcomes back 3 senior positional players and 1 senior pitcher that logged innings in 2018. All of these returnees have been starters for at least three years in the program. After that, inexperience abounds for the Colts. Jacob Guimarin is a 2019 RHP/SS that should be the Colts #1 arm on the mound this season. He shows the ability to really locate the fastball on both sides of the plate and can flip his breaking ball for a strike at anytime. When he is not on the mound, Guimarin will be the SS for the Colts. Another senior, C Cole Wales returns after a stellar 2018 season where he hit .395 with 1 HR and 11 2B’s. He also showed his speed, hitting out of the leadoff position, with 4 3B’s and 16 SB’s. In the outfield, look for senior Dorian McCullough to lead the way in 2019. In the past, he has shown a knack for being a true drag bunt threat every time he steps in the box and had 13 SB’s in 2018. He also had a .366 OBP in 2018. In what is a bit of a rebuilding year, the Colts will depend heavily on these 3 seniors to hopefully lead the way to a state playoff appearance.
