Arizona Summer Review: Catcher Analysis

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

On Sunday, August 16th, PBR Arizona had the chance to wrap up its summer season with their end of the summer review. PBR had a chance to see the progress many players throughout the state of Arizona have made throughout the summer season.  The Arizona Summer Review is an open event that took place at Shadow Ridge High School in Surprise, AZ that featured prospects from the 2021-2024 grad classes. There were many players in attendance that we haven't seen at event before including some young 2024 grads. We also had the chance to get an update on some players that we have known from past coverage. This event featured over 50 players from from all across the state of Arizona including some players from California and New Mexico that took part in a pro-style workout. This annual open event has become a great event for players to show progress over the course of a year.

We began our post-event analysis last week with our Statistical Analysis, taking a look at the top statistical performers in each category. We also took a dive into some of the advanced metrics that our Trackman unit & Blast sensors provide. Our first impressions from the event were highlighted in our  Quick Hits segment. Today, we continue our post event coverage by starting our positional analysis starting with the backstops that competed at this event. Be sure to stay tuned over the next couple weeks for more post-event coverage.
