Building Champions Scout Day: Stat Story

Prep Baseball Report teamed up with Building Champions to run a scout day featuring 70 players from the greater KC area with players from the 2023 class to some upcoming prospects in the 2026 class. The players went through home to first times, exit velo station, bp rounds, defensive actions and radar gun readings, catcher pop times, and full bullpens. There were multiple standouts from the event with guys putting up some impressive numbers on the day. Full event stats and details can be found by clicking here and here.
The top fastball from the event belonged to 2024 right hander Hudson Byrd from Blue Valley HS at 89 mph. Cameron Carter and Chase Olson were right behind him both topping out at 88 mph. The top velocity from the 2023 class belonged to Kai Bennett from Liberty HS at 86 mph with Max Bettis and Reid Robinson leading the way for the 2025's at 85 mph. Hunter Higgins and James Forgy showed some potential arm strength from the mound each reaching back for 78 mph in the 2026 class.
Chase Porter posted the top running time at an impressive 3.88 seconds down the line from the 2025 class. Devin Wassmann led the way in the 2024's at 3.95 seconds and Benjamin Dalke posting the top running time for the 2023's at 4.01 seconds. The 2026's were led by Brady Steward running a quick 4.25 down the line showing high running potential for the future.
The top exit velocity from the event belonged to 2023 Tennessee commit Jeremy Comer at 96 mph. The K-State commit Nick English was right behind him at 93 mph. The 2024's were led by Arkansas commit Cameron Carter at 92 mph with Tucker Poe leading the way for the 2025's at 88 mph and Hunter Higgins posting the top exit velo for the 2026's at 87 mph.
Michael Novak showed off his arm strength from across the diamond posting an event best 86 mph from the 2023 class. Drew McConnell of the 2024 class and Sam Bettis of the 2025 class each reached back for 83 mph and Brady Steward posted the best arm across for the 2026's at 80 mph.
Cameron Carter showed off his elite arm strength from the outfield with an event best 95 mph reading. Max Bettis was right behind him leading the way for the 2025's at 90 mph with Jeremy Comer coming in at 88 mph. Hayden Sharp showed some arm strength potential from the 2026 class posting a 78 mph reading.
Nick English posted the top pop time from the event with a tight range of 1.89-1.97 and Trevor Brush was right behind him in the 2023 class at 1.91-2.01. Jackson Harding with a 2.02 pop time with Cooper Schreiber showing some arm strength from behind the dish at 75 mph. Jaxon Miller showcased well in the 2025 class with pop times ranging between 2.03-2.12 and James Forgy showed some potential catch and throw skills at 2.08-2.19.
