OSSAA Player of the Week: Week Six

Scott Hood
Oklahoma State Director

We pick the player of the week by scouring through box scores as well as take submissions from high school coaches across the state.  To be considered for selection, please send in weekly stats to [email protected] or DM through our social channels by 8:00 PM each Sunday night.

It's no secret the Elgin Owls have been one of the top teams in the state regardless of class this year and is led by a strong mix of upperclassmen and talented underclassmen.  Ritson Meyer's emergence as one of the top performers in the state has played a large part in their rise to their spot in the Power 25 and continued his big spring with another strong week earning this week's Player of the Week.  The sophomore finished the week going 11-17 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, a home run, 8 RBI, 4 stolen bases, and also worked a 7 inning shutout on the mound where he only allowed 4 hits and picked up 8 strikeouts.  Meyer's physicality in the middle of the order has been one of the made him one of the most consistent performers throughout the year and his work on the mound gives the Owls a chance to make a deep run in the 5A State Tournament.  Meyer should see plenty of attention when the recruiting period opens up in this class as one of the more coveted bats and overall athletes in the 2026 class.
