No. 2 Bryant High School vs No. 6 Catholic High School
The expectation for a Bryant HS vs Catholic HS is to have a pitcher dual. The game Tuesday night was no disappointment when 2015 RHP Blaine Knight (Bryant HS) and 2016 Dylan Thompson (Catholic HS) locked it, both threw a complete game.
Thompson came out on top pitching 7 innings, with 10 strike outs. He allowed just 4 hits 2 runs and 1 walk. Knight took a tough loss pitching 6 innings with 9 strike outs 0 walks and 3 runs.
Catholic HS scored 2 runs in bottom of the 4th when the Rockets strung together three consecutive singles by 2016, MIF Joe Myers, 2015, C William Hancock and 2015, OF Harper Vondran. Knight almost escaped the jam by getting Thomas and Musteen to fly out with no runs scoring, then 2016 OF Zach Walker drilled a double down the left-field line to score Myers and Hancock to put Catholic up 2-0
Hancock wasn’t done as he hit a solo homerun to lead off the bottom of the 6th to push the score to 3-0. That homerun ended up being crucial as Bryant pushed across 2 in the top of 7th before Thompson induced an inning ending double play.
2015 OF Drew Tipton lead the way for Bryant offensively going 2 for 3 with a double and a RBI.
