The 2019 high school season is well underway, despite the weather conditions. Yesterday, 2019 LHP/1B Walker Ladner (Florence HS) was named the Player of the Week for March 4th  – March 10th. This week’s decision was a tough one, as there were several worthy nominees for the honor. We take a look at the other nominations sent in by coaches around the state in this week’s Diamond Notes.

Colton Keith (Biloxi) went 5-for-7 with three RBI and four walks also scored four runs.

Tate Parker (West Harrison HS) logged six innings on the mound posting six strikeouts while only allowing three hits. At the plate, Parker finished 10-for-13 with five doubles, two triples and five singles. Also drove in six runs.

Caleb Wood (Biloxi) finished with four hits in six at-bats with two doubles, two runs batted in and two walks.

Ashten Cooley (Florence) was 10-for-14 on the week hitting .714 with eleven RBI.  He had three doubles and a triple.

Cade Mohan (Biloxi) went 4-for-7 with seven RBI, three runs scored and two walks.

Caleb Sterling (Warren Central HS) was 5 for 12 with nine RBI’s, two doubles, one triple, two homeruns and one walk.

Jonathan  Havard (George County HS) finished 10-for-14 with one home run.

Sean Daily (Warren Central HS) finished with a .571 average that included one double, one homerun, three RBI, two walks and one hit by pitch.

Heath Schmidt (Biloxi) finished with six hits in eleven at-bats, including four singles and two doubles. Recorded three RBI while scoring two runs.

Ryan Roch (Biloxi) recorded four hits in nine at-bats including four doubles and two RBI also scoring five runs.

Conner Platt (Biloxi) posted four hits in ten at-bats including two doubles and two RBI's while scoring three more runs.

Chase Graham (Warren Central HS) went 5-for-7 with one double, five RBI and three walks. Graham also logged three innings on the mound allowing just one hit while striking out eight.

Jalen Cowan (Clinton HS) was 6-for-8 with two doubles and two triples. Cowan also threw four innings on the mound, allowing two walks and two hits while striking out six.

Jayden Duncan (West Marion) finished with a .545 average with three home runs.

Peyton McCurley (Warren Central HS)  finished 5-for-8 with one double, two triples, five RBI and a hit by pitch. McCurley also logged three innings on the mound allowing no hits while striking out seven.
