The Florida Fall Championships took place this past weekend at Lawnwood Sports Complex in Fort Pierce, Florida. The event featured two divisions, Upperclass and Underclass. Each team played two pool play games, and the top four teams in each division moved on to bracket play. After last night's play, we came away with two champions:

Underclass: Eagles Baseball

Upperclass: Naturals Florida

Today, we take a look at some of the standouts from this weekend's action. Check out who stood out to our PBR Florida Scouts.

Standouts

Connor Batchelder RHP / Northeast, FL / 2021

Went the full 5 innings for the Tornadoes, allowing only 2 runs on 8 hits while striking out 5 and walking 3 to send them to the championship game.

Michael Benedict SS / RHP / Martin County , FL / 2023

Not his best stuff, but really like the projectable and athletic 6-foot-2 right hander. Battled through 3 errors while allowing 5 R 3 earned on 6 hits, 1 BB and 3 Ks in 2ip. FB- 80-83 and landed a quality CB for strikes at 63-66.

Brooks Chamberlin OF / RHP / Tampa Jesuit, FL / 2023

Uncommitted 2023 arm with a very projectable frame. Tall, lanky 6-foot-3, 167 pounds. Gets good extension downhill. Fastball sitting 79-82 with more to come as he adds strength. Really like the upside in this young arm.

Anthony Cole 3B / SS / Montverde Academy, FL / 2023

The 6-foot-3, 195 pound infielder looks bigger and strong than what's listed and looks the part of the projectable athlete. Overall, the offensive toolset has a very high ceiling. Shoulder width setup and fairly simple load. The swing has leverage and present strength and showed up in the first game when he doubled to left and homered to right.

Robert Demetree SS / 3B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2023

Demetree has really come into his own offensively and the advanced tools are really starting to show up in game. He had six hits on the weekend, which included a walkoff in the 5 v 5 matchup against Hof-Fitz. He has gotten more physical and the strength plays well offensively with the present bat speed. Swing has continued to become more compact and is on time consistently .Also has plenty of upside in the frame as he continues to mature.

Zaid Diaz OF / LHP / Archbishop McCarthy, FL / 2023

Physical left handed hitter homered in his first at bat of the tournament. Found the barrel all weekend and was able to make consistent hard contact. The bat plays and I really like his upside offensively.

Jayden Dubanewicz OF / RHP / Stoneman Douglas , FL / 2024

Line doesn't quite show how good he was through 3ip. Went 3.2ip, allowed 4 runs on 3 H w/4Ks and 2 BB. High waist, compact short arm action that worked free and easy. A lot of upside to like and follow as he matures as he worked 78-82 w/solid CB.

Trey Fisher LHP / OF / Jesuit, FL / 2022

Fisher put up one of the best pitching performances of the weekend Friday night for Top Tier. The uncommitted southpaw went all 7 innings allowing no runs and striking out 14 batter. Fisher sat 77-79 with the fastball and flashed a swing and miss breaking ball.

Edian Espinal SS / Viera, FL / 2022

Physical middle infielder found barrels all weekend with multiple extra base hits helping lead the Eagles to the Underclass Championship. Strong/quiet hands, barrel tilt load, twitchy barrel actions on contact. Impact bat at the top of the order.

Devin Fitz-Gerald SS / RHP / Stoneman Douglas, FL / 2024

All around mature actions for age. At the plate, Works a high leg kick, with a barrel tilt load creating positive momentum towards baseball.  The switch hitter has a similar swing from both sides and adjustability in the swing. He is also an athletic defender at short with a very high ceiling as he matures.

Paul Guerne LHP / Calvary Christian, FL / 2023

Duke commit threw twice this weekend and looked sharp in both outings. Tall and drive delivery, high 3/4 arm slot, long to short arm action. Above average actions for age. Fastball sat 84-88 with natural arm side run/sink. Curveball 74-76 with sharp, slider action. True swing/miss pitch.

Brady Guthrie RHP / 2B / Titusville, FL / 2021

Eastern Florida State commit. Working tall and over the rubber with athletic finish towards target. High 3/4 arm slot, long to short arm action. Fastball sat 86-89 with natural sinking action. SL 75-76 with true across the plate action.

William Hagen 1B / RHP / Eau Gallie, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021. East Region Senior State Games participant continues to show a lot of upside offensively. Strong bodied, stocky, athletic frame. Strong/confident hands in the box, level bat path, stays inside baseball making hard contact out front.

Jalen Hairston SS / 3B / Winter Haven, FL / 2022

Athletic middle infielder continues to show well on both sides of the field. Defensively moves well up the middle. Offensively gets the barrel head extended and has a quick whippy swing.

Jackson Hugus C / OF / Wellington, FL / 2021

Hugus continues to show power potential and overall high upside offensively. Smart hitter who gets himself into good counts. Quick hands that allow him to let the ball travel producing hard contact gap to gap. Uncommitted catcher that keeps making strides each time we see him.

Kai Knudholt RHP / RHP / West Orange , FL / 2021

Uncommitted RHP. Worked an up tempo and in rhythm delivery, high 3/4 arm slot with natural arm side sink on FB at 83-85 mph, topping at 86 mph. 4 IP, 1 H, 10 K’s.

Trevor Harrison C / RHP / East Lake, FL / 2023

Uncommitted 2023 helped lead Top Tier to the Underclass championship game. He pitched to a complete game shutout in the semifinals striking out 3 while keeping hitters off balance and creating soft contact.

Bradley Link SS / RHP / Suncoast , FL / 2023

Link continues to be an intriguing two way follow. Closed out the Championship game on the mound, but really impressed offensively over the weekend where he would record six RBIs.

Dillon Moquin OF / RHP / Stoneman Douglas, FL / 2023

Another talented bat on his Eagles team, he has a strong lower half and feel to hit. He was on the barrel consistently with runners on as he tied for his team's lead with 7 RBIs. Has natural loft in the swing with gap to gap power with more to come. He doubled twice while not recording a strikeout and an incredible 7 hits in 8 at-bats and 9 runs scored.

Arjun Nimmala SS / RHP / Strawberry Crest, FL / 2023

Florida State commit showed comfortable/relaxed actions in the box. Above average bat speed, fluid barrel control through zone. Gap to gap hitter with a lot of upside offensively. Defensively, shows above average actions at short with soft hands.

Grant McDonald 3B / OF / North Broward Prep, FL / 2022

McDonald has really matured into the frame with added physicality. The swing is slightly uphill and has present bat speed and power potential. He would double twice on the weekend and has a lot of offensive upside.

Hunter Miller 3B / C / Fort Pierce Central, FL / 2022

The left-handed hitting catcher and third baseman really stands out offensively for the Naturals. He stands tall, with confidence and attacks the baseball. Whippy bat through the zone and has present gap power with more to come as he drove a pair of doubles over the weekend.

Cullen McConathy LHP / 1B / TNXL Academy, FL / 2023

Was impressive on the mound. Arm is in line, clean and easy. Up to 84 with some feel to pitch. Allowed 2 R on 4 H while striking out 5 and walking 1 in 3.1 innings in the win.

Peyton Prescott SS / RHP / Sebastian River, FL / 2023

The two-way prospect didn't have his best stuff on the mound, but showed his upside and ability to compete. He was up to 86, and worked around a few errors. He has a compact, quick arm and plenty of upside on the mound. Offensively, he also performed with a short, simple swing he was on the barrel all weekend.

Aaron Potter RHP / OF / Atlantic Coast, FL / 2021

The uncommitted 2021 was extremely impressive in his outing. He would allow one run on three hits while striking out eight and walking two in a complete game six inning effort. A projectable frame and clean arm action, he would attack from a ¾ slot at 85-88 mph to both sides of the plate. The slider at 74-75 mph and changeup at 81-82 mph both showed average and garnered some swing and misses. Overall, there is much more in the tank and feel for three pitches that should play at the next level.

David Ramos C / 1B / Broward Virtual Franchise, FL / 2021

Tusculum commit showed a lot of power potential at the Elite Squad tryout last month with consistent high exit velos. Continued that this weekend, by just missing on a home run that bounced off the wall. Strong frame with power to the pull side.

Christian Rodriguez OF / RHP / Stoneman Douglas, FL / 2023

One of the top uncommitted 23’s in the state continued to stand out offensively. Middle of the order bat with a low effort line drive swing. Showed power potential, just missing a home run by a few inches. Lots of upside all around and will be an impact two-way player going forward.

Miguel Sosa SS / Westminster Academy , FL / 2021

Strong bodied, stocky, athletic frame. Showcased mature actions in the box, flashing twitchy barrel actions on contact. Power potential in the frame.

Parker Martin RHP / 3B / Mandarin , FL / 2024

Impressive young 2024 arm. Balanced delivery with long arm action. Fastball sitting 79-83 mph. Working both sides of the plate for strikes. Struck out 4 in a winning effort for Fort Caroline.

Rylan Townsend RHP / Hagerty, FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021 RHP finished his day strong with a no hit outing. Working fastball to both sides of the plate forcing weak contact and a lot of swing and misses. Finished with a final line of 5 innings, 0 runs, 0 hits, and 11 strikeouts for FTB Tampa.

Carlos Vega RHP / 3B / John Carroll Catholic , FL / 2021

Uncommitted 2021. Vega displayed mature actions on the mound, reached a consistent balance point and showed the ability to work both sides of the plate with FB. FB: 84-86 mph, CB: 73-76 mph. 5 IP, 1 H, 9 K’s.

Michael Williams RHP / 1B / Deltona , FL / 2022

The uncommitted 2022 would go on to throw a no hitter for the Freshwater Storm. Fastball sat 76-78 mph and was able to induce a ton of weak contact. He finished with a final line of 6 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, and 6 strikeouts.

Brian Walters RHP / Bayside , FL / 2021

Eastern Florida State commit. Balanced, repeatable delivery working from a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball sat 82-84 and could tick upward with added strength. Struck out 6 during his outing on Sunday.
