Scouting Report
Futures Preview North ( June 3, 2017)
Lanky 6-foot-3, 165-pound frame, with room fill out. One of the top prospects 2019 for the state of NJ ranked No. 4 in the NJ 2019 Rankings and No. 38 in the National Rankings. Throws from a Low ¾ arm slot with a short arm action. Fastball topped at 88 MPH while sitting consistently 86-88. Fastball showed late life with some arm side run. Commanded both a slider and a knuckle curve at 75-76, 79-80 respectively. Slider was tight with downward movement while knuckle curve had a 11-5 break. Arm maintained fastball speed while executing off-speed pitches. High follow with high ceiling.
PBR Future Games (August 4-6, 2016)
Hunt is long and wiry at 6-foot-3 170-pounds. Very high follow prospect with a high ceiling and projectable frame. Offensively- left handed hitter starts opened with hands above shoulder. Uses a leg kick that starts load. Hands are loaded pre pitch. Leg kick generates power, very quick hands and aggressive hips. Exit velo of 86. Defensively- Smooth movements in the field at SS for his tall, lanky frame. Fields ball out in front with clean hand exchange and quick, smooth hands. Throws were from a 3/4 angle at 83 mph.
Futures Preview (6/4/16)
Hunt is a 6-foot-3 165-pound shortstop and right handed pitcher with wiry long limbs and a very projectable frame. At the plate, the left handed hitter sets up with an open stance and uses a high leg kick to generate power, produced an Exit Velo of 89. Possesses excellent barrel awareness and a balanced follow through, despite the high leg kick. In the field, possesses a smooth and clean transition with exceptional footwork and overall feel for shortstop, threw 83 across the diamond. On the mound, Hunt was one of the top performers, with a max velocity of 86. Throwing from a 3/4 arm slot, Hunt has a lightning quick arm with athletic mechanics. Sat 84-86 and showcased a hard 72 MPH 11-5 two-planed slider. Changeup at 78 with arm side fade and a hard-tumbling knuckleball at 77.
4/5/16 - KC Hunt stands at 6-feet-1 and plays SS and pitches. A top performer at last fall’s Underclass Showcase Hunt possesses plus bat speed for a freshman, and utilizes a leg kick. Against Indian Hills, Hunt barreled an Alex Havlicek (Virginia Tech) slider for a single to left field, then lined out to straight away center.
9/20/15 -- K.C. Hunt is already 6-foot, 150 pounds and is only a 2019 graduate. He's a left handed hitter, right-handed thrower. He hits from a tall, open stance and utilizes a leg kick. He generates bat speed and his feel for the barrel is far advanced for a player his age. He occasionally loses balance and stability, spinning off to the pull side, but this will be a non-issue as he gets stronger. Defensively, he showcases good glove skills. He has long strides and is light on his feet, which means solid range. He plays a little too upright at times and will be better off bending more at the knees. K.C. may have been one of the two or three most projectable arms at the event. He pitches with easy, fluid mechanics and plus-plus arm speed from a 3/4 arm slot. His velocity was 78-81 miles-per-hour and he had some arm side bite to his fastball. His slider was tilted and two-plane at 68-72 MPH.
