High School Crosscheck: Week 14

Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

Colorado’s two top arms, RHP Riley Cornelio (Pine Creek HS, CO) and LHP Graham Osman (Colorado Academy, CO), helped their teams advance in the postseason with strong starts on Saturday. Cornelio bounced back from a rough start the previous week with 6.2 no-hit innings. His fastball was 91-93 mph in the sixth inning and he mixed in a slider with late depth at 79-81. He struck out 10 and walked four in the game.

Osman continued his dominant spring with his eighth straight appearance without giving up an earned run. Pitching into a stiff wind on a cold, dreary day, Osman was consistently 85-87, touching 88, from his 3/4 slot. He has a wipeout slider with late depth at 78-80 and uses a backdoor knuckle curveball on righties at 76-77. Osman’s arm is loose and effortless. In this outing, he pitched four innings, striking out 11 and allowing just one hit.
