Welcome to Looking Ahead. Every Monday, we will go into detail about top games in the coming week that have our staff excited and why. Also, we will list other games that should be good ones to check out between top teams.

 

FEATURED MATCHUPS

Centreville, Madison, and Westfield
These three play each other in essentially a round robin this week that will likely decide the Concord District by Friday. Entering this week, Madison and Westfield each have one loss in District and Centreville has two. Madison holds a win over the Bulldogs and Centreville was swept by Madison and Westfield the first time through the schedule. By the end of the week, if one of these teams has gone 2-0, they will have likely put themselves in the driver's seat to be the top seed headed to the District Tournament. Rain on Friday has allowed them to rest their pitchers, and Westfield is at a slight disadvantage from that standpoint, playing their games Monday and Tuesday, while Centreville doesn't play Madison until Friday, allowing for some pitcher rest. Hunter Bell (VCU) and Thomas Trinca are Centreville's most important players. Westfield is anchored by Joe Clancy, Nick Lottchea, and a deep lineup. Madison has Matt Howatt (William & Mary), Ethan Lipp, and two-way Josh Gjormand (Lynchburg) as key players for this stretch.
