NC 2021 Most Viewed Player Profiles: #5 Walker Jenkins

With 2021 coming to a close we begin to take a look at the most viewed player profiles in North Carolina over the last year. PBR continues to be a go-to source of information for college coaches and pro-scouts. All Major League Organizations and over 800 colleges are subscribed to PBR services. Coaches and scouts can go to a players profile page and see player video as well as advanced analytics. With all the information provided it allows coaches and scouts to get an idea of who the player is as well as track their progress throughout their careers.

The South Brunswick High standout had one of the best summers of anyone across the country. It doesn’t seem to matter where he is at the bat continues to stand out. The left hand hitter also has the speed and athleticism to stick in center field in the future.
Jenkins ranks at the top player in the North Carolina 2023 Class and he made the USA Baseball 18U National Team. Even though he is still an underclassman he is already drawing plenty of attention from pro organizations. He is committed to North Caroina.

Positional Profile: OF/SS.
Body: 6/2, 190 pounds. Strong, athletic build.
Defense: OF-Fluid through the ball, soft hands, catches ball off left foot, clean transfers. IF-Athletic, fluid actions, soft hands, funnels to the midsection, clean transitions.
Arm: R. INF - 80 mph. OF - 93 mph. OF-Accurate with carry, long arm action, high 3/4 slot. IF-Has carry and accuracy across the diamond, short arm action, feel for using different arm angles.
Hit: L. Slightly open, strong base, hands at back shoulder. Smooth load against back leg, short stride, quiet barrel. Gets on plane early and stays through the zone, hands are quick, lots of barrel feel lining balls gap to gap.
Power: 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Made hard contact on balls to center and right in game action, ball comes hard off the barrel, above average bat speed.
Run:7.15 runner in the 60.
Physical with strength present at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. Balanced and athletic in his setup from the left side. Uses a toe tap with a smooth load back. Medium stride. Strength is present in the swing, looking to create damage. Above average bat speed, working level through the zone with a gap-to-gap approach producing back spin and line drives. Fluid throughout with head discipline and an explosive back side through contact. Exit velocity peaked at 90 mph. Defensively, the arm has carry at 81 mph across the infield with some feel for the bag. Lacked true feel on off-platform throws, but the arm strength carried. Good footwork with average hands, working to play through the ball with athleticism. Hips can be high through the catch. Long feet on clean exchanges. Ran a 7.40 sixty. High ceiling potential moving forward.
