OK Rankings Update: Class of 2022

Andy Urban
OK/MO/KS Scouting Supervisor

The PBR Oklahoma 2022 Class Rankings have been updated after a baseball packed summer. Through loaded events and talent rich tournaments at our new Creekside facility and Lakepoint where many OK teams traveled to compete, we were able to get our eyes on more prospects more times than ever before. Check out the top prospects, risers, newcomers, and fully expanded rankings, below.

The Top- For the first time in over a year, we have a shakeup at the top of the rankings which now features one of the best pure left-handed hitters in the country, one of the most prolific power right-handed bats, and a big velo left-hander that spins and elite breaking ball.

Jackson Holliday SS / 2B / Stillwater, OK / 2022

The 6-foot, 165-pound Oklahoma State has yet to put on the physical size his bloodlines might suggest are coming, but he already shows a wiry strength that allows him to drive the ball to all fields with some power. What makes the left-handed hitter stand out most though, is his ability to control the bat head and barrel up high-end pitching consistently. Currently an advanced high school short tops with soft hands and efficient footwork, Holliday could stick in the middle or make the move to the hot corner at the next level if he continues to put on strength.

Caden Powell SS / RHP / Clinton, OK / 2022

One of the most physically impressive players in the class, the Oklahoma commits stands 6-foot-3 and weighs a very lean 200lbs. Always an elite power hitter with big power to the pull side, Powell has began to polish his offensive approach, spraying extra base hits to all fields. We have also seen Powel make big jumps in speed and with his arm where he was recently 90 from the mound. Defensively, Powell likely moves to one of the corner INF or OF spots due to his size and his athleticism will make him an advanced defender at those positions.

Kyndon Lovell LHP / OF / Lookeba-Sickles, OK / 2022

A lean and athletic 6-foot, 180-pound athlete on the mound, the Arkansas commit was reported up into the low 90s with his fastball before having to miss most of the summer. The left-hander also spins a devastating breaking ball in the mid to upper 70s that will continue to play at every level.

Top Newcomers- The summer of 2020 saw a flood of new talent make a name for themselves. These three below led the way with some impressive performances, jumping into the top 20 of an already very talented class.

Phoenix Meza SS / 2B / Destiny Christian , OK / 2022

If quick-twitch, slick moving infielders with elite bat speed are your thing, look no farther than recent Oklahoma State commit Phoenix Meza. After ripping off two low 6.5 60s in a row at the OK Summer Open, the right-handed hitter stepped to the plate and barred up every BP pitch thrown with exit velos between 90-95 to the middle and pull side. Defensively, Meza is elite with his hands, feet, and arm accuracy. If he continues to gain arm strength, Meza could easily become one of the top players in the country.

Solomon Skalnik OF / 3B / Owasso, OK / 2022

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed bat oozes projection with current elite power with a 97 mph exit velo in BP and much more room to continue to add size and strength. The highest ranked uncommitted player in the state Skalnik also shows off some feel in the outfield and a big arm at 88 mph with carry and accuracy.

Barrick Leu SS / Bixby, OK / 2022

A true "ball player" showing high-end feel for the game with tools that will continue to play at the next level, Barrick Lue will make a great pick-up for solid program. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows a flat and middle of the field with advanced bat speed. Defensively, there is very little flash to Leu's games, just clean plays make with consistent feet and hands and accurate throws across the diamond (86 mph).

The Risers-As with every season that goes by, many players take major leaps physically and developmentally. Below are some of the biggest risers since our latest rankings.

Dalton Williams C / RHP / Canute, OK / 2022

Dalton Willisams posses a 6-foot-2, 195-pound frame that continues to get stronger and continues to push his game forward. Behind the plate, Williams shows elite arm strength at 82 mph to produce pop times of 1.88-2.0 with some accuracy and advanced blocking. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows big pop with just under 96 mph exit velo in BP according to Trackman with consistent lift to the pull side. Williams is up 17 spots in this rendition of the rankings.

Keaton Campbell SS / 3B / Charles Page, OK / 2022

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound infielder has always posses an projectable frame, but has recently added strength and  polish to his game that has pushed him up nearly 40 spots in the rankings. Campbell showed pop at future games driving a balls deep multiple times and showing an exit velo in BP of 93 mph according to Trackman. Defensively, Campbell has turned into an advanced defender with soft hands that will likely stick at 3rd base, especially if he continues to see his arm strength tick up.

Logan Lunceford RHP / SS / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2022

Easily one of the biggest winners at this year's Future Games was 6-foot, 170-pound Logan Lunceford. The right-hander has always shows well advanced feel for a 12/6 breaking ball and disappearing changeup, but it was the big up-tick in velo to 87-89 that moves Lunceford up 17 spots in rankings. At the Future Games, against some of the best uncommitted hitters in the county, Lunceford retired all 6 batters he faced, punching out five of them and never went past a two ball count.
