PARMA, OHIO – Padua HS (4-8) got a visit from a good all-around Walsh Jesuit HS (12-2) baseball team on Tuesday night as they squared up for the second time in as many days.

Overall, it was the Walsh Jesuit pitching and the Padua defensive mishaps that brought Walsh Jesuit to the 6-0 win.

The scoring for Walsh Jesuit began in the fourth inning when they scored three runs off three Padua errors. They struck again in the next inning scoring two more runs of an additional two Padua errors. Walsh added their final run in the sixth.

Padua surrendered a total of eight errors on the day, and Walsh took advantage of the miscues.

Padua’s junior right-handed pitcher Michael Stryffeler put together a strong performance, but tool the loss. He gutted out a tough six innings, giving up zero earned runs and only one hit against a tough Walsh Jesuit lineup.

Walsh Jesuit sophomore right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner, who is ranked at number seven overall in Ohio for the Class of 2015 put together a commanding pitching performance. The righty avoided pressure in his five innings of work. He struck out eight Padua hitters and walked one.

The pitching was finished off in the last two innings by freshmen phenom and two-way talent Christopher Machamer. The right-hander started the day off at shortstop and moved into the closer’s role. He pitched two innings, striking out two, and only allowing one Padua hit.
