2016 LHP Austin Cross committed to Henderson State University. Austin was the staff ace for the Ashdown Panthers last spring as they advanced out of the always tough 4A south regional into the state tournament. He most recently attended our Unsigned Senior Games on August 29th at Hendrix College. Below you will find our evaluation of Cross from that showcase.
2016 LHP Austin Cross, Ashdown HS
Cross is a 5-foot-11 160-pound left-hander with a medium frame and an athletic build. He commanded the strike zone with his fastball 80-83 mph up to 84. He complimented that with a 1/7 curveball thrown 68-71 mph with near fastball arm speed. His mechanics are repeatable and maintains consistent rhythm through-out his delivery. He works from a drop and drive balance point and gets little extension. Overall Cross is a quality left-hander with some upside as he gains physical strength.
