Scouting Report
Physically advanced 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a short leg-hang stride to begin. Displayed an aggressive lower half with some glide that leads to occasional timing issues. Registered a bat exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.11 60-yard dash. Showcased athletic defensive actions with straight line carry on throws of 79 mph from the outfield. Definite player to follow in this class with a chance to develop into a middle of the order hitter with power.
Thoughts on the Future
“The athletic outfielder demonstrated comfort in every facet of the game when we saw him this summer at the Western PA College Prospect Showcase. Really liked his raw power and ability to generate strength from a violent lower half. With some work to refine too much lower half glide prior to the swing, it’s hard to imagine Weaver won’t generate even more barrel-whip through the zone leading to a higher bat exit velocity. Calming down the hips will also allow for a more consistent approach at the plate, creating a higher percentage of quality at-bats in game. With advanced feel for his body at such a young age, it’s easy to imagine even more improvements on the horizon. Confident that his 79 mph arm-strength will only improve as we continue to follow him by maintaining a more fluid arm-stroke. Overall, Weaver will be a prospect to follow in the 2023 class and should be a middle of the order run-producer at the next level.”
