Top 2019 Uncommitted Georgia Pitching Prospects

Blake Davis
State Director, Georgia

Today Prep Baseball Report Georgia is focused on the top 2019 uncommitted arms in Georgia. This list has something for everyone. Power five to NAIA schools, projection to plug and play, all of these guys will pitch at the next level and are just in search of the right fit.

Michael Harris/ 2019/ LHP/ Stockbridge HS

Comments- Harris is a legit-way player on the next level, but for now we are focused on his abilites on the mound. He has a very mature med-framed build and a very strong lower half. He pitches out of a high-3/4 arm slot with a very compact high arm circle. His fastball touches 93 and pitches 88-92. His velocity has seen an uptick over the last couple months, but was always effective, even before the jump. He flashes two different shapes with his breaking ball, He has feel for the pitch, but it can play big at times. Overall Harris' fastball jumps on hitters and is hard to see out of the hand because of his short arm stroke. Harris' jump in stuff has also started to catch the eye of Major League Baseball and will be a factor in the 2019 draft class from the state of Georgia.

Connor Housley/ 2019/ RHP/ Sandy Creek HS

Comments- The 6-foot-3 Housley has an athletic wiry frame.  He is is one of the most projectable right-handers in the state and has started to make a jump this fall bumping his velocity up from mid-80's into the 90 mph and it is very realistic to think even more is coming. The recent move from the outfield to the mound has allowed this projectable right handed pitcher to sneak up on some people. Housley's combination of athleticism, arm stroke, and body are hard to match, and make him a big time sleeper prospect in the state Georgia. All the schools that have seen Housley throw live are very thankful, that we were not able to put video in this article, because it works pretty good.

Nolan Letzgus/ 2019/ RHP/ Heritage HS

Comments- The medium framed 2-way prospect shows good athleticism and actions both way. On the mound he has a fluid delivery and easy arm stroke.  He repeats and can run his fastball into the low-90's.His slider flashes swing and miss attributes at 79-81. Letzgus has as much present ability as any uncommitted kid in the state.

Andrew Fry/ 2019/ RHP/ Starr's Mill HS

Comments- At 6-foot-3 180-pounds and a large wing-span, Fry has excellent projection to his body for a young pitcher. He is already showing more arm strength than he did earlier in the summer. His full wind-up delivery is controlled, and shows good balance from a high-3/4 arm slot. Fry consistently gets downhill with his fastball and occasionally flashes exploding sink down in the zone. His curve-ball is still a work in progress, but will flash occasional 12-6 shape at 74-76. Fry’s change-up also shows promise and will benefit from more commitment to the pitch. This is a good looking projection arm that is on the come, and believe he has a chance to make a big jump in stuff this season. He is an excellent student also.

Jakob Valleroy/ 2019/ RHP/ South Effingham HS

Comments- The 2019 right-hander has an athletic build at 6-foot-1 185-pounds. He pitches out of the wind-up with an overhand slot and flashes good angle when down in the zone. Valleroy has life to his body and shows good rhythm on the mound. His fastball touches 88 and pitches in the 84-86 range. He throws a true curveball with 12-6 type action when he hits on it. It has the shape and bite to function as early get me over, and late in counts can be used as harder, in and out of zone pitch that he will bury. Athletic kid with arm strength that has a chance to add velocity over the next year.

Carson Weir/ 2019/ RHP/ North Cobb Christian HS

Comments- Weir is an medium framed athletic right-hander that will repeat his delivery and throw strikes. His fast ball sits in the mid-80's and flashes good sink down in the zone. His slider is more of a length pitch and plays big in a bullpen setting, but the pitch plays up live because of his sink and hand side life on his fastball. From a mechanics standpoint Weir could stay closed better, as he looses extension out front and could lead to even better sink and get him more our front with his slider.. See plenty to project on with Weir, as the ingredients are in place. This uncommitted 2019 is going to make somebody a quality starter at the next level.
