Scouting Report
3.24.17 - 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, large frame. Long firm arm action that works straight over the top. Gets hard tilt on his fastball, tough angle working downhill, touched 87 mph, pitched at 82-85 mph. Uses 12/6 curveball heavily, occasionally pitching backwards, 66-70 mph. Flashed a changeup at 76 mph.
OUTLOOK:
As a Junior, Pierce, was a valuable arm for a Plainfield East squad that won 23 games. The physical right-hander ran his fastball up to 87 mph out of the bullpen this past spring and successfully mixed in an overhanded breaking ball. Pierce utilizes his big frame to his advantage, getting good downhill tilt to his fastball and is tough to elevate when he locates down in the zone.
