WEEK 7: ARIZONA SCOUT BLOG

#7 Queen Creek 7 vs Desert Ridge 6

Ryker Waite SS / OF / Queen Creek , AZ / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 226 / POS: 57

The Oregon State commit was a standout in last nights matchup against a tough Desert Ridge team. Waite was 3-4 on the night with a double and a triple. In the box Waite is one of the tougher outs in the state, he showed the ability sit back on off speed and punish mistakes left over the plate. On the base paths he showed +speed with a high level baseball IQ. 

 

Jesse Aguirre SS / 2B / Queen Creek, AZ / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 48 / POS: 11

While only going 1-4 at the plate on Tuesday the uncommitted middle infielder showed a quality presence in the box with a good feel for the zone and the ability to use the whole field. Aguirre has an athletic stance in the box with a simple leg lift load and short to it long through it bat path. 

 

Caden Truman SS / 2B / Desert Ridge , AZ / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 50 / POS: 12

The uncommitted 2024 continues to impress at the plate with a 2-3 day, including this shot to the right center field gap for an RBI double. Truman works an athletic stance with minimal extension in the hands, a short direct path to the ball, while staying behind it well. Defensively Truman has a reliable glove at second base with above average range. 

 

Cooper Sobeck OF / 3B / Desert Ridge , AZ / 2024

Rankings  StateRank: 61 / POS: 16

Sobeck the uncommitted 2024 outfielder and corner infielder put together quality at bat after quality at bat in last nights matchup. One of them being this shot into left field for an RBI single in the bottom of the 7th to get Desert Ridge within striking distance. At the plate Sobeck has a wide stance in the box with a short violent path.

 

Giovanni Melchione C / OF / Desert Ridge, AZ / 2023

Rankings  StateRank: 37 / POS: 1

The Gonzaga commit may not have stood out on the box score, but put together some great at bats in Tuesdays matchup against the Queen Creek Bulldogs going 1-4 with a big RBI single back up the middle. Melchione has a strong physical build with high level power potential. 

 

#22 Saguaro 10 vs Prescott 7

Tanner Nelson OF / C / Saguaro , AZ / 2023

The uncommitted Utility player made the start on the mound Wednesday afternoon for the Sabercats with a fastball sitting 84-86. At the plate Nelson went 1-2 with a big knock in the early parts of the game ripping an RBI double down the left field line. Nelson has a wide stance in the box with a simple direct path to the baseball. 

 

Brendan Costes C / OF / Prescott, AZ / 2024

The uncommitted catcher out of Prescott high was a standout on Wednesday afternoon in the box. Costes had one of the biggest shots of the game hitting a bases clearing double to deep centerfield to give Prescott the lead in the early goings. Costes has a mature presence in the box with an athletic stance and smooth swing from the right side. 

 

Cameron Caminiti OF / LHP / Saguaro, AZ / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 1 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 2 / POS: 1

Louisiana State commit, #1 prospect in the state of Arizona and #2 nationally for the 2025 class. Was coming off of a 3 game home run streak in Wednesday's matchup. While we didn't get to see any big flys in this one we did get to see Caminiti put together afew quality AB's including a hard hit ground ball through the 3-4 hole. While the 2-way prospect is one of the best hitters in the state his bread and butter is on the mound, showcasing a 95+ mph arm from the left side. 

 

Billy Gregory 3B / RHP / Saguaro, AZ / 2023

Uncommitted corner infielder and right handed pitcher Gregory had a big knock in this one shooting a 2 RBI single down the left field line. Gregory went on to close this one out going 1.2 innings pitched with 3Ks. The uncommitted righty sat 84-86 T.87 with a tight slider that showed to be a quality swing and miss pitch.
