Ohio State commit. Currently ranked No. 49 in the state. Started on the mound for the Celtics and picked up the win, firing 5.1 innings with two earned runs, two hits, one walk and six strikeouts. Listed at 6-foot-2, 187-pounds, athletic build, lean with room to fill out more. Athletic mover down the mound, front hip swings into a slightly open stride. Arm plays with some noticeable speed out front, high ¾ slot. Worked his fastball in the 87-89 mph range, used early and often in this look with control to both sides of the plate. Went to a short 11/5 breaking ball to pair off the fastball, sitting in the 75-77 mph with the ability to land it for strikes. High-follow 2023. 

Ohio State commit. Currently ranked No. 49th in Illinois’ class of 2023. Listed 6-foot-2, 187-pounds, athletic frame, strong lower half, right-handed pitcher. Got the start on the mound for No. 2 Providence. Deliberately working on the mound from the stretch only, Hussey cruised through four complete innings before leaving in the fifth. Hussey struck out five while allowing three runs on just one hit and walking five. Worked heavy with the fastball throughout the game and threw a curveball as the main secondary. The fastball came clean out of the hand with life through the zone, uses both a four seam and two seam sat 89-93 throughout the outing and topped out at 94 mph. Curveball played with short 11/5 action sitting 79-81 mph. A competitive, veteran arm, who looks to help provide a long playoff run.

Notre Dame commit, currently ranked No. 17 in the state of Illinois in the class of 2022. 6-foot-2, 187-pounds, athletic upper body with strong legs. Got the start on the mound against Joliet Catholic in their first game in the WJOL. Works from the stretch only with easy effort, an athletic point of balance, works directionally in line with home, lands athletically with a slight upright finish. The arm works out of short action, high ¾ slot. Throws an easy four-seam fastball for strikes, gets behind the baseball, sat 86-87 mph and topped at 90 mph. Working off the fastball  is a curveball and a changeup. The changeup thrown to the arm-side of the plate, has late running action with some sink, sat in the mid-80s. An 11/5 curveball, with sharp break when thrown down in the zone, sat 74-76 mph.

Hussey solidified his status as one of the top 2023 arms we have seen to date in Illinois. Hussey boasts a 6-foot, 165-pound, wide-shouldered, durable frame with athleticism throughout. He comes from a stretch-only delivery, stays closed down the mound, repeats and pitches with rhythm and ultra-easy effort. Hussey’s arm works clean and quick from a high ¾ slot. Fastball comes out of the hand clean and easy, angle at times, high-volume of strikes with late finish through the zone; sat mostly 82-83 mph throughout, touching 84 a handful of times. Hussey also showed off an above-average breaking ball, working out of the same window as his fastball, with short, late action at 71-73 mph. Easy to imagine the curveball turning into a hard slider down the road, which will only elevate the offering. Hussey was able to land it for strikes early in the count and expand with two strikes. Also, a right-handed hitter, Hussey hit the first home run of the weekend taking a pitch up in the zone and launching it deep over the left-field fence. High-follow uncommitted 2023 right-handed pitcher with current polish and high-ceiling potential.

Delivery: Athletic on the mound, tall/fall delivery, high front side, short strider. Works direct to target, athletic finish, easy effort.
Arm Action: RH. Long, clean, easy arm action, high 3/4 slot, projects for much more velocity to come.
FB: T83, 81-82 mph. Easy out of the hand, plays with downhill tilt, strikes.
CB: 67-71 mph. 11/5 shape, late action.
CH: 75-78 mph. Maintains fastball arm speed, consistently plays down in the zone. 

Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, smooth load, short stride, drives lower half, stays balanced through contact.  Bat speed, uphill path, easily elevates the baseball, gap-to-gap power, fluid rhythm throughout.

8.5.18 (Junior Future Games) - 5-foot-5, 115-pound, right-handed hitting two-way player. Good look in-game, rhythmic actions on both side of the ball. Confident hitter, loose hands, some uphill in bat plane, takes pitches well, rhythm involved. Exit velocity topped 71 mph from a tee. Soft hands in the infield, can stick in the middle, throws topped 79 mph across the diamond. 8.19 runner in the 60.
