Datres is a 6-foot, 175-pound SS/RHP who is a gifted three-sport athlete. As a freshman in 2011-2012, he was an All-Conference quarterback in football, a member of a district championship basketball team and the starting shortstop on the Lancers baseball team. Datres won nine games on the mound and was named All-State as an infielder. He has touched 89mph from the mound this summer and has already drawn interest from many Division I baseball programs.
11/1/14 Datres, a North Carolina recruit, had two loud hits on the weekend—a triple that was squared up to right-center field and a double that was smoked over the center fielder’s head. Datres has a good, quick swing at the plate and room to fill out his 6-foot, 180-pound frame.
5/9/14 Datres flashed his plus arm strength across the diamond and a taste of his abilities on the mound working at 88 mph for one inning in relief. The 6-foot, 175-pound two-way prospect worked a scoreless inning relying primarily on a power curveball that had hard 11/5 biting action at 78 mph.
5/16/18 - Athletic infielder who has been a consistent performer with good bat-to-ball skills. Showed very similar tools and skills to my first look March 9-11 at Louisville- College Crosscheck: Week 4. Expect Datres to be selected towards the beginning of Day 2.
3/14/18 - 6'0/200, Junior. Good athlete who showed an average arm with good hands, actions and body control at third base. Should be an above average ML defender in the future. Above average runner underway, was 4.21 H-1B on a jailbreak. Ran a 4.35 on a 5-4-3 double play. Balanced approach in the box with slight open stance. Average bat speed. Swing has some length and pulls off. Wants to pull the ball and uses only a third of the field. Went 3-for-9 the first two games of the series. The final game Louisville found his hole and they pitched to it; inside fastballs. Went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts. He profiles much better at 2B with an ultimate big league role as a UTL. Potential to be selected in the middle of Day 2.
