Nebraska commit. Currently ranked No. 1 in Wisconsin’s 2025 class. Uptempo delivery on the mound, works quick in between pitches. Simple and repeatable mover with a quick and strong arm. His fastball sat in the upper-80s throughout his complete game start and he reached back for a 91 mph fastball in the middle of his outing. Off of his fastball he threw in a deceptive changeup that was thrown at arm speed and played with a ton of late fade at the plate, earning some awkwards swings-and-misses to both left and right-handed hitters. While he didn’t go to it much, he did flash a tighter breaking ball in the mid-70s, that he was able to locate to the glove side.
UTL Carter Kutz (Harford Union, 2025) was a member of Team Wisconsin at the 2023 PBR Future Games. Kutz boasts an impressive build at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds with athleticism throughout. Ranked No. 2 in Wisconsin’s 2025 class, he’s a toolsy prospect who has ran a 6.88 60-time. On Saturday, Kutz showed off his two-way abilities in a big way. To start his performance, he hit a no-doubt home run out to left. Kutz later hopped on the bump to collect the last six outs of the game, spinning two perfect frames and punching out four. Kutz featured a fastball that played anywhere from 83-87 mph, touching 88 at times with arm-side run and some spin (2300+ RPM). Kutz also mixed in a short mid-70’s breaking ball when needed. In an early Sunday morning game, Kutz peppered a ball down the left field line for a double. The right-handed hitter features a simple load with a controlled swing that barrels the baseball.
The current No.1 ranked prospect in the Badger State’s 2025 class, 3B/RHP Carter Kutz (Hartford Union, 2025), turned in another outstanding performance in front of our staff, this time on the national stage. It began in the showcase portion of the workout for Kutz, who averaged an EV of 86.4 mph throughout his BP session. The right-handed batter begins in an open stance before closing up and whipping the barrel through the strike zone, where he has consistently shown to elevate the baseball to the pull-side. The power comes naturally for Kutz, standing at 6-foot-2, 185-pounds. He homered in Appleton during the State Tournament, in his round of BP on Wednesday, early on in Team Wisconsin’s pregame BP, and capped off the summer with a home run to deep left field in the second matchup of the weekend; Kutz’s bat speed and quick hands, shown throughout the on-field BP portion of the week, allows him to pull inside pitches and keep the ball fair, all of which was illustrated in gameplay. Positionally, Kutz performed as both a catcher and infielder, finishing with pop times from 1.89-1.94 seconds, and an infield velocity of 88 mph. He stuck at the third base position during gameplay when he wasn’t pitching on the mound. The right-hander got up on the bump for two innings of work, working at an ultra-efficient pace and ranging his fastball in the mid-80s, reaching 87.9 mph. Spin was key for Kutz, as he averaged 2,150 RPM on the fastball, mixing in a solid curveball and changeup as well. He changed pace multiple times, working fast in-between pitches to keep hitters guessing. All of these traits summarize a successful summer for Kutz, who continues to be an arrow up prospect in Wisconsin’s 2025 class.
PBR Future Games: As the No. 1 ranked overall prospect in Wisconsin’s 2025 class, 3B/C/RHP Carter Kutz (Hartford, 2025) lived up to the hype on Wednesday, putting together another quality showing in front of our staff. Kutz, standing at a lean 6-foot-2, 185-pound frame, impressed at the plate, launching a home run and repeatedly barreling up pitches throughout his BP session. It reflected his strong finish in the spring and momentum built up in the summer, which was also on display during the defensive portion of the action. Kutz reached 88 mph from the infield, turning in a smooth round from the shortstop position. In addition to his solid play on the infield, he put in some time behind the plate too, finishing with a pop time range of 1.89-1.96 seconds. The arm talent plays anywhere on the diamond for Kutz, giving him flexibility as a future position player. The star-studded athlete will get on the mound as well, where he’s had success for a while now, establishing himself as one of the best two-way prospects in the state, regardless of class.

Kutz is a physical 6-foot-1, 185-pound freshman that showed two-way prowess at Sunday’s event. Kutz started his day by running a 7.04 60-yard dash and made hard contact to all fields in BP. During his defensive session, he popped as low as a 2.00 with carry down to second base, up to 78 mph from the crouch. Moving to the mound, he threw a mid-80s fastball that topped at 86.2 mph, and his aptitude to spin the breaking ball at high rates (2,362 rpm on average) suggest he has some substantial upside as a pitcher, a side of his game he’s only just begun to develop. The fastball demonstrates hard arm-side action that also carries through the zone, with an induced vertical break measured at over 18.1 inches. Kutz’s secondaries – a curveball and changeup – also showed some upside despite his newness to them both. The curveball is aggressive with depth and the changeup is also firm and it shows late arm-side fade/sink.

Kutz continued to assert himself as one of Wisconsin’s top incoming freshmen while at the Junior Future Games. Built at a wiry, athletic 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Kutz started the week off with an impressive round of BP, barreling his best ball up at 96.4 mph. His right-handed swing showcased as his best trait, and it translated seamlessly into gameplay, where he swiftly became Team Wisconsin’s top offensive performer. Kutz’s barrel feel and inherent strength generated multiple extra-base hits, including barreled balls delivered into both gaps – and he also crushed a ball off the top of the left field fence. Defensively, Kutz calls a quality game from behind the dish and captains the defense adequately, serving as an anchor back there for Team Wisconsin each game he caught. He also hopped on the mound against West Virginia, tossing four strong innings and running his fastball up to 83 mph.
6-foot-1, 160 pounds; strong, lean, athletic frame. Has continued to solidify himself as one of the top incoming freshmen in the state. Hitting out of the three-hole for Hitters Navy, Kutz went 11-for-18 last weekend at the PBR at The Rock Championships; struck out only once. Intelligent on-field instincts; made several high IQ defensive plays in the field. Plays with effort and hustle; saved a run backing up first base while playing catcher. Athletic and mobile blocker with a short, efficient arm action on his catch-and-throw; throws carry to the base. Also looked comfortable at third base, but more natural from behind the plate.
5-foot-9, 145-pound catcher with athletic, lean frame, long levers. Demonstrated natural instincts and actions from behind the plate. Suffocated some balls in the dirt, angled blocks back toward home, and even quickly blocked a ball and threw a baserunner out at second with advanced and accurate arm strength. Swings loose right-handed bat that’s still progressing on offense.
