This weekend Liberty University will host the Commonwealth Games All-Star event, which will feature four teams of 15-17 year-olds from around Virginia squaring off in a tournament to try and win a team Gold Medal. The Central won Gold in 2017 and the North team won Gold in 2016. In this post, we will give you the rosters for each team and highlight a few players to watch for this weekend, look for our Notebooks after Friday and Saturday's action and follow us on twitter for updates

Name Position High School Class Commitment

Nathan Cmeyla C/2B Briar Woods 2020
Eddie Eisert SS/RHP Bishop O'Connell 2020
Magnus Ellerts RHP Woodbridge 2019
Hunter Entsminger RHP/SS Sherando 2019 James Madison
Blake Fisher SS/RHP Highland School 2020
Ryley Johnson OF Colgan 2020 East Carolina
Brody Mack LHP/OF Potomac 2019
CJ Miles OF Battlefield 2019
Nate Savino LHP Potomac Falls 2020 Virginia
David Setien RHP Riverside 2019
Carson Swank SS Riverside 2019 Yale
TR Williams LHP Page County 2021 Virginia Tech
Dylan Weber LHP Dominion 2019
Jake Wortman C Colonial Forge 2019

The North team is loaded with talent, featuring five 2020s currently ranked in our VA/DC Top 50, including three of the top 12 in Eisert, Cmeyla, and Savino. Savino is the top ranked player in the Class of 2020 and has a strong argument as the top overall prospect in Virginia right now, regardless of class. The big lefty is coming off of a dominant sophomore high school season and is on track to potentially be a first round draft pick when he finishes high school. 2021 TR Williams was the State Player of the Year as a freshman in his classification and also has the makings of a high level prospect as well, Williams committed to Virginia Tech this week.

The 2019 group on the North roster is also very strong, led by Riverside shorstop Carson Swank who turned in an outstanding offensive season while also contributing good defense at short. An intriguing group of uncommitted arms will pitch for the North, with Magnus Ellerts coming off of a strong season for Woodbridge that saw him sit 85-88 and touch 90 in a May start. Setien, Mack, and Weber had strong statistical seasons and should be assets for the North squad.

Central Team

Name Position High School Class Commitment
Ian Anderson RHP Hanover 2019
Zachary Beach 1B Atlee 2019 Coastal Carolina
Tucker Bratton OF Atlee 2019
Mark Buisson 2B Mills Godwin 2019
Christian Chambers SS Midlothian 2020
Brandon Eike SS/RHP Powhatan 2020 Virginia Tech
Nick Hargrove RHP Douglas Freeman 2019
Zach Hoekstra SS Cosby 2019
Ethan Iannuzzi OF Cosby 2019
Karson Jennings OF/RHP Thomas Dale 2019
Carson Jones LHP/OF Deep Run 2019 Virginia
Gabe Lassiter RHP Patrick Henry (Ashland) 2019
Jack McDonald C Louisa County 2019
Eli Parks LHP Manchester 2019
Andrew Weight RHP/OF Cosby 2019
Eli Weisner 3B Deep Run 2019

The Central team is also very talented this year and should have a lineup that mashes. Zackary Beach has big powerful lefthanded bat that is a threat to go yard at any time. Ethan Iannuzzi had a strong season at Cosby and was one of the bigger risers in our rankings during the spring. The outfield prosepct is an interesting offensive prospect and just one piece of what should be a very good Cosby team next spring. Zach Hoekstra is a solid middle infield prospect with some length who combines with Cade Swisher to form a top middle infield combo in the state. Hoekstra's best year are in front of him as he fills out that projectable frame. Brandon Eike of Powhatan really came into his own this spring, showing why he should be considered a top two way prospect in central Virginia. Eike adds another smooth swing on the offensive end and can also be a power arm when called upon.

Carson Jones stood out this year for Deep Run, but it was more on the offensive and position end as their right fielder. There is no doubt about the projection of the talented left-hander, and this will be another opportunity to show that off when he steps on the bump. Eli Park of Manchester is an interesting arm who could fill numerous roles within a pitching staff depending on the level. The arms works well with some effort and will be one to keep an eye on. We have talked on numerous occasions about the projection of Gabe Lassiter down the road, and this is another opportunity the young right can showcase this. Andrew Weight developed very well this year on the mound for Cosby and is one who could be a later riser. During the postseason, Weight was 83-85 touching 86 on the bump.

East Team

Name Position High School Class Commitment
Sam Alheit OF Indian River 2019
Tim Blackman LHP Oscar Smith 2019
Zach Coldsnow OF Tabb 2019
Bryson Dansberry OF Nansemond River 2020
Garrett Johnson LHP Norfolk Christian 2020
Corey Leadenham SS/RHP Kellam 2019
Joseph Majewicz LHP Grafton 2019
Zach Morris SS Nansemond-Suffolk 2019  VMI
Aaron Morse C Deep Creek 2019
Anthony Morton SS/RHP Greenbrier Christian 2019
Ryan Pastirik C Jamestown 2019
Colton Robinson 1B Salem (Newport News) 2020
Michael Singer RHP Ocean Lakes 2019
Osvaldo Torres SS Lafayette 2019
Cameron Wallace SS Cox 2019
Alexander Ziemke OF Great Bridge 2019

The East team has the distinction of being the lone team that didn't bring any committed players from its area. Zach Morris is ranked in our Class of 2019 Top 50 after we saw him in November and it will be good to see him again. Morris is a very interesting middle infield prospect who shows range around the diamond and still projection to the game that he could make a nice jump down the road. Garrett Johnson has put together two excellent seasons during his freshman and sophomore campaign at Norfolk Christian, and it will be nice to get to see this lefty with some two way potential again. Jospeh Majewicz is an interesting lefty that attacks the strikezone with a low to mid-80's fastball. He has a bigger breaking ball from the left side, but what has stodod out to us the most is his fearless metality on the mound during his outings this spring. Indian River outfielder Sam Alheit is one of those hitters who will spray it around the diamond and tough to strikeout.

West Team

Name Position High School Class Commitment
Jackson Cherry OF Jefferson Forest 2020
Graham Dalton SS Chatham 2019
Jordan Dixon OF/RHP Virginia 2019
Grant Elliott OF Tunstall 2020
Braeson Fulton C Riverheads 2020 James Madison
Jared Glinski C Brookville 2020
Nick Griffin RHP Turner Ashby 2020
Tyler Hargis RHP Amherst County 2020
Colton Kent SS Franklin County 2020
Connor Lewis RHP Cave Spring 2019
Alex Lowery RHP Halifax County 2019
Christian Martin SS Amherst County 2021 Virginia Tech
Grant Painter SS Riverheads 2020 James Madison
AJ Potojecki RHP Chatham 2019 Longwood
Cole Rigney C Gretna 2019
Grant Wilson 1B Cave Spring 2019 Radford

The West team has the largest group of underclassmen of the four teams and has plenty of talent in that group. Jackson Cherry is a top 25 prospect in his class and Braeson Fulton and Grant Painter helped lead Riverheads to a state championship this spring and are also top 40 prospects in the 2020 class. Christian Martin is one of the best hitters in the State, regardless of class, it will be fun to see him face off against better pitching at this event.

The West 2019s are solid as well, Potojecki showed mid-80s velocity at this event a year ago and is coming off of an outstanding spring for Chatham. Rigney also had a good Commonwealth Games in 2017 and Alex Lowery is yet another arm our of Halifax County that is intriguing and we look forward to seeing him again this weekend. An under the radar righty to check out is one Nick Griffin of Turner Ashby.
