06/03/18- Florida recruit. Athletic, projectable frame. Plus arm with advanced actions from short. At the plate he shows above average bat speed and shows gap-to-gap potential. Singled into right during gameplay. Quick arm on the mound featuring an 85-87 mph fastball along with a 70-72 mph slider that he threw at any time in the count for strikes, showing depth and a feel for it.
03/10/18- Florida recruit. Continues to fill out with room to continue to do so. On, multiple occasions, ranging both glove and hand side, showed his plus defensive abilities. He has an above average arm and natural instincts for the position. The hands are soft and works with confidence, also showed ability to get rid of the ball quickly when need. Offensively, the path is level and stays in the zone. The added strength continues to show in the offense. Was 2-5 with a double and will continue to improve as he gets stronger.
01/07/18- Florida recruit. Stands at 6-foot, 155 pounds with a projectable, athletic frame. In the field, Carrion moves freely to his right and left with range, taking efficient angles to the ball. Fields the ball out in front with a quick release and strong, accurate throws to the bag which topped out at 84 mph. Makes the plays and shows smooth, athletic actions. Offensively, he shows quick hands and athleticism in the box. Made consistent contact and as he continues to become stronger, the gap-to-gap power will see a jump. High follow prospect.
05/28/17 - Florida recruit. Lean and projectable frame standing at 6-foot, 145 pounds. Quick arm with athleticism on the mound. Fastball sat 86-88 mph early and pretty much held that velocity during his four innings pitched. In his final inning he was mostly 84-87 and touched 88 on a strikeout. Slider showed some depth and shape sitting in the 70-74 mph range along with a 79-81 mph changeup he mixed in. Induced multiple groundouts and had a strong outing against a tough lineup with four strikeouts.
04/19/17- Florida recruit. Carrion has always shown plus defensive action with a feel for the position beyond his years at short, and that was again the case again today. He has easy actions and moved well to both glove and hand sides with plenty of arm. The big difference is Carrion has noticeably become a bit more physical, easily adding 10-15 pounds of strength. This shows up in the swing, where the path and hands have worked but added strength is greatly beneficial. Overall, he is still very young with big time upside and big time tools.
10/08/16- Florida recruit. The 6-foot, 145 pounder has a lean, athletic, and projectable build. Continued to stand out in the field with advanced, smooth defensive actions. Made a tough backhand play in the hole during the game and then displayed an above average arm for his class with accuracy and carry on his throw to first. Possesses good instincts and displays good range with light, quick feet.
9/10/16- Committed to the University of Florida.
8/24/16-The 6-foot 145 pound shortstop showed plus defensive actions during the pro-style workout. With first step quickness, good angles to the baseball, confident under control approach to the baseball and very good hands he projects to be a plus defender. Offensively, the path through the zone works with good barrel control which will generate more consistently as he fills out. He was the most interesting prospect at the event with the defensive upside at a premium position.
