Arizona Rankings Update: 2024 Class

Shea Sbranti
Arizona Scouting Director

As the Summer of 2023 is coming to a close it is time to revisit our player rankings for the 2024 class. After multiple events this summer, and being able to see live game play, the Arizona staff was able to make subtle changes while adding some new additions to the list.

As always the ranking process is a fluid and ongoing process, in which players are evaluated on multiple occasions, whether it be at an event or on the playing field at a local tournament. All players on this Top-100 list are well deserving and have a bright future ahead. The players at the top of the list have separated themselves from the rest, and proven they belong where they will be heading. Most of these prospects are very tough to compare, and through the entire Top-100, the players are merely interchangeable, including some of those that have been left out.

Scouting Report

Following the Conclusion of the 2023 high school season Cam Caminti decided to make the move and reclass to the 2024 class. By doing this it makes Caminti a senior and eligible for the 2024 MLB draft next July. It comes as no surprise that Cam is moving into the #1 spot for the 2024 class as he is projected as one of the top draft prospects in the class. The two-way prospect had an exceptional season for the Saguaro Sabercats in 2023 and looks to do it again next season.
8/14/22

Caminiti, an LSU recruit, might have the highest upside of any player from the event, and showcased powerful stuff on the mound with a smooth stroke at the plate. Already an imposing 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, the frame still shows some signs of future growth which is scary to consider given the present outputs. Working 91-93 with the fastball against an elite Brewers lineup, he struck out the side in the first inning showcasing feel for both a shorter slider (80-81) and curveball with depth (74 mph) as well as flashing a changeup (82 mph).

Though he gave up runs in the second, the fierce competitor showed maturity in his third frame, which should only help in future advancements and growth. The upside on the mound is undeniable with a chance to be special, but he also showcased nearly equal upside at the plate where the same power shows up from the left side with barrel accuracy and a chance to hit at a high level.

7/31/22

Smith Bailey joins Team Arizona as a right hander with a great build with length and room to add strength. He has a clean and easy delivery from the right side and stuff that shows it's going to play at a high level. • High School: IMG ACADEMY

  • Summer Team: Phillies Scout Team
  • Height: 6-3
    Weight: 210lbs

Scouting Report

8/14/22

Charles is the most unique player in the country. The durably-athletic, 6-foot-3, 195-pound two-way player pitches and hits from both sides. Although there is clearly plenty of potential on the mound (he was 88-89 right-handed and 83-84 left-handed with feel for secondary), the bat stood out as the most intriguing aspect of his prospect status.

Driving a heavy barrel through the zone from both sides, the outfielder looked hitterish in each plate appearance, and showcased big power potential as well as a chance to hit. This look, in particular, showed Charles to be a potential middle-of-the-order bat in the future, and immediately stamped him as a player to follow closely in coming years.
