In 1927, Babe Ruth became the first MLB player to hit 60 home runs, In 1961, Roger Maris broke that record with 61 home runs. In1998, we had a home run chase between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, In 1999, one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, the Atlanta Braves and Nike did a commercial titled "Chicks Dig The Long Ball", In 2001, Barry Bonds had a 73 home-run season. Iin recent years, exit velocity and launch angle have become a talking point, which led to 2019 where MLB just set an astonishing record for home runs with 6,776 (and counting, with the playoffs still going on).
