Day Two Scout Blog

Ethan Burkhardt SS / RHP / Bishop McLaughlin, FL / 2024

2019 Jr Future Gamer continues to mature. Two-way guy with strength in his young frame. Found the barrel for a single then hopped on the mound up to 80 with the fastball. Showing feel and control on the CB as well.

Brian Canasi SS / RHP / Tampa Catholic , FL / 2023

High baseball IQ all around, fast twitch actions. Smooth glove at SS, projectable arm strength. Short compact swing, showed barrel control getting the head out front on his stand up 2B.

Chase Chatman OF / LHP / Island Coast, FL / 2019

The FGCU recruit has the prototypical lefty frame that is long and lean. Drives on line through the plate consistently. Fast, whip-like action with a ton of arm talent as he creates above average spin on all pitches. FB rides through the zone efficiently and touched 91 mph a couple times. CB sat in the upper 70s registering spin rates of 2400-2650 RPM. The CH was a factor too with late fade at 79-82 mph that gives RHHs fits.

Fletcher Cline 3B / Atlantic Coast, FL / 2019

Cline boasts a long frame that’s wiry but athletic. Has some fast twitch movement in the wrists and hands at the plate and lets the ball get deep. Simple load, no wasted movement maintaining posture and keeps the head still through contact. Extends through the ball well creating backspin which is going to turn line drives into gappers.

Zach DeVito RHP / SS / Newsome, FL / 2020

Tulane commit. Above average athleticism. Shifts weight and transfers energy from the ground up with optimal extension. Has a long delivery with arm talent and loose release. Creates movement well as the fastball has some 2-seam action at 86-87 mph. CB is short but sharp and around the plate at 76-78 mph as well as the change up that tumbles out of the zone at 79-80 mph.

Louis Federico SS / 2B / The King's Academy, FL / 2023

Athletically built SS w/ above avg actions, instincts and an overall feel for the position. Strong lower half w/ middle-away approach. Compact swing w/ strength. Power currently to pull side. Controls the zone.

Ryan Fordenbacher OF / RHP / Fletcher, FL / 2021

Fordenbacher has a mature frame, pretty filled out with some strength in the arms. Creates more leverage than most with the barrel showcasing a good feel for the bat head as he can manipulate the barrel better than most. He adjusts well and jumps on fastballs early in the count with an aggressive approach.

Lucas Glendinning RHP / 3B / Viera , FL / 2023

Large frame RHP w/ athletic, lean build, a high waist, broad shoulders, and long arms. Fair delivery w/ good arm action and body control. Throws from a ¾ slot. FB (76-80) has natural tail. CB (63-69) has down ¾ action w/ depth to break. CH(66) has some fade. Still developing feel for CB & CH. Control over Command. Has potential to be a consistent strike thrower.

David Gonzalez OF / 3B / Alonso, FL / 2023

5-foot-10 projectable high waisted, athletic frame. Fluid arm action working high ¾ arm slot. FB 78-80 with arm side sink. CB 62-64 strikeout pitch. No hits given up thru 3 innings, threw a complete game with 8 K’s.

Quentin Graves RHP / Seminole, FL / 2021

Medium frame RHP w/ athletic, muscular build. Uses a three pitch mix. FB (82-85) plays heavy w/ arm side run and occasional sink. CB (66-70) is the best secondary offering. Has some depth to break and bite when right. CH (78-80) is still developing.

Austin Grause RHP / 1B / Gaither, FL / 2021

The USF recruit has continued to fill out a strong frame. Worked 88-90 early, but after giving up a hit, came back at 91-92. He settled in at 87-90, but has life on the fastball. Slider also showed above average and has a chance to be a true swing and miss pitch.

Christian Hamilton 2B / RHP / Jesuit, FL / 2021

Sean Hermann RHP / OF / Durant, FL / 2021

USF commit. Comfortable, athletic mechanics. Quick actioned easy repeatable ¾ arm slot. FB sitting 85-88, consistent command to glove side, sinking action when going inside. Slider 74-77, wipeout action with FB arm speed.

Nicolaus Litke OF / Chiles, FL / 2021

Possesses a thick, mature frame with strength. Has really come into his swing as he displays the body control and hand speed that will lead to powerful, balanced cuts. The ball jumps off his bat as he really stays on the barrel at contact point.

Johnnie Lopez / Deltona, FL / 2022

Lean, athletic frame. Left handed hitter has a confident setup, works with rhythm and showed the ability to turn the barrel, stay compact and generate above average bat speed. Drove a double off center field fence at 91.8 mph exit.

Aidan Morales C / 2B / Jesuit, FL / 2021

Strong lower half frame, above average actions behind the plate, strength is present. 1.98 pop time, compact arm action with online throws. Strong bat speed, squaring up baseball with line drive up the middle.

Jalen Niles SS / 2B / Jesuit , FL / 2020

Very Athletic and springy with quick twitch movements in the entire body. Smooth feet and soft hands in the infield. Gets the feet set, letting the ball go as he fields it with plenty of arm across the diamond. Small leg kick gets the weight back in the swing. Keeps the hands in the slot with minimal movement and turns off the backside. When on time he hits off a stiff front side and gets through the baseball with little bat drag.

Jack Owens 2B / RHP / Bloomingdale, FL / 2022

Owens has continued to tick upwards with velocity. Working 87-88 touching 90 mph, he commanded the ball down in the zone to both sides of the plate. He also should makings of an advanced slider with tight  spin around 2600 rpms.

Alvin Pabon II3B / 1B / Atlantic Coast, FL / 2023

Stocky, strong, physically mature frame. Uses strength well. Has some length in the swing, but has present bat speed. Drove a double in the gap at 91.5 mph off the bat.

Alex Philpott RHP / OF / Newsome, FL / 2023

Philpott continued where he left off yesterday. 2-3 on the day with a triple and single. Long and lanky 6-foot-4, 150 pound frame. Two-way guy, came in relief and showed another big jump touching 88 mph, is one of the top uncommitted 2023s in the state.

Joel Pineiro RHP / Westminster Christian, FL / 2021

Controlled mechanics, mixes timing up efficiently. High ¾ arm slot, FB 85-87, top 88 with natural arm side sink, also commands FB glove side. Curveball 70-72 thrown for strikes. Has shown a presence on the mound and ability to compete at Preseason Classic. Velocity has made a jump and MLB bloodlines bodies well for upside.

Zachary Redner RHP / 3B / Strawberry Crest, FL / 2023

Has continued to improve and has a somewhat untraditional takeback, but the athleticism and quick arm help create some deception. Worked 82-84 and while he tended to get around the slider, it does have spin and shows potential. Struck out seven in two and two thirds and really like the upside.

Adrian Rolon 3B / RHP / Riverview , FL / 2023

Uncommitted 2023. Athletic two-way guy got the start on the mound. Fluid, up tempo delivery. Was working 80-82 with the fastball. Velo should continue to jump as he fills out and adds strength. High follow two-way.

Colby Shelton SS / 2B / Bloomingdale , FL / 2022

The Clemson recruit continues to hit against high level competition. Turns around 90 mph fastball in the first for a triple to center. Very advanced offensive toolset.

Caden Turrell OF / OF / Port St. Joe, FL / 2021

Uber athletic with a muscular build. Fast movements with strong contact ability from the left side. Bat speed is above average and when he stays through the ball creates a lot of backspin and carry on fly balls. Can run really well in center and looks even faster on the bases.

Jonathan Vastine SS / RHP / Bartow, FL / 2021

Vastine is a full package two-way guy. High waisted, athletic frame. Showing some electric arm action sitting 90-91, topping at 92. Competitive slider at 77-79.

Brock Wilken 3B / C / Bloomingdale, FL / 2020

Physically imposing frame, strength in the hands and can barrel pitches even when a bit off balance. Easy pop in the swing as he went deep to left coming off the bat at 104 mph. The Wake Forest commit has a simple approach staying quiet at the plate with a small load. He lets the ball get in his zone and clears the hips, quickly getting through to extension.
