KS Power 20 Rankings Update: Week 8/Final
May 9, 2023
The Kansas high school baseball season kicked off on March 17th, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of and during the begging of the 2023 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down through the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 20 Rankings.
While much of the initial lists are weighted on previous performances, prospects, and projections, updates will be inherently tied to the production on the field. Simply put: wins and championships matter. A human element to the list will still provide important information on the nuances and intricacies that the season bestows. Whether it is a close loss in a rivalry game, a five-game in three days gauntlet, or a bout of sickness that depletes a lineup, you can count on PBR to critically examine the playing field at all times.
Following Opening Day, our scouts will be out and about covering the 2023 season and will be publishing scout notes and additional in-season content along the way, like Power 20 updates, Diamond Notes, Scout Blogs, and Player of the Week awards.

- As the regular season comes to an end, the grouping of our power 20 got tighter, there is really not much separating the top 15 especially if the aces are on the mound. This post season could be a wild one
- This will be our final rankings as team wind down their seasons and prep for regionals where it will all play out on the field.
- Life Prep hands Manhattan their first loss of the year, both teams remain two of the top in the state.
- Shawnee Mission East has won eight of their last nine and is the hottest team in the state, now playing like the team we and many others thought they were entering the year.
- Bishop Carroll knocked off some quality opponents to stay at only one loss on the year.
- Olathe South has come back down to Earth in the last few weeks, but still holds on to the No. 1 spot thanks to their well rounded game on all sides of the ball.
