March is finally here and baseball tryouts have officially hit the ground running for Public Schools across the Old Line State. This year, we have decided to keep the same format as last year as we will keep two separate rankings throughout the Spring season. All Maryland Private schools will be considered in this year's weekly PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10 rankings while only Public schools will be considered in our traditional PBR Maryland Public Schools Power 25. An update to these rankings will be released every Monday throughout the season.

Season Snapshot

The Warriors and Coach John Childers enter the 2022 season on a high note after a thrilling 2A state championship run, capped off by a Chet Bowling (Brunswick CC) walk-off single to secure the title for La Plata. Turn the page to 2022, and this Warrior team will have a much different look to it, especially on the bump. In total, the Warriors graduated ten players, six of them being some of their best arms. With a new look on the bump, look for Coach Childers to turn to his Senior class to take over the leadership, as well as rely on the growth from the underclassmen.

This year's La Plata team will feature a plethora of new arms taking over the leadership on the mound. Seniors Chet Bowling (Brunswick CC) and Jacob Pahel will look to lead the staff, followed by Juniors Nick Quade, Robbie Shelton, and Sophomore Timmy Scopp. The depth and maturity will be a hurdle that Coach Childers will need to figure out, however relying on the upperclassmen early on will bode well for the success on the mound.

Offensively, the Warriors are led by middle of the order power bat Chet Bowling (Brunswick CC). La Plata will have no shortage of success with Bowling at the helm of this offense, followed by another big power guy in Robbie Shelton. Bowling and Shelton give La Plata a nice one-two punch in the middle of the order, with the likes of Chase Ackerman, Brett Michael, Jacob Pahel, and Desmond Wood adding depth throughout the lineup.
