Scouting Report
The top ranked prospect statewide in his class showed exactly why putting together the most impressive two-way performance of the two day event. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound lefty used his strength in his lower half to create drive to the plate with a quick repeatable delivery. Out of a high 3/4 arm slot his fastball sat 88-90 with some effort. The pitch is currently relatively flat. Slider at 82-84 showed late, sharp break which was two-plane at times and was thrown with advanced arm speed. He is still working to find a feel for his third pitch, a changeup at 79-83.
The right-handed hitter took the most impressive round of batting practice over two days, and it was not close. Starting from a slightly open stance he initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Utilizing an explosive hip turn and strength in his lower half to create barrel whip he punished baseballs repeatedly with advanced power for his age. Registered a bat exit velocity of 100 mph and ran a 7.62 60-yard dash. Federici finished his impressive day by showcasing capable defensive actions in the outfield with 93 mph arm strength.
