Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma hosted the third annual OK Fall Underclass Games on Sunday, September 9th, at the beautiful J.L. Johnson Stadium on the campus on Oral Roberts University. The event showcased a sold out 73 player roster from the 2022-2020 grad classes. Each position player went through a pro-style workout and played in a scrimmage where pitchers threw. 

Today, we take an in-depth at the 18 outfielders from the event. Though many of them are two-ways, they will be covered here today as outfielders only with pitching analysis already on their profiles.  All counts started at 1-1.

Grayson Adams LHP / OF / Bethany, OK / 2021 A long and projectable 6-foot-2, 154-pound frame with lots of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an upright, slightly open and relaxed set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a small leg lift and stride before loading his hands and sending them on a flat path to contact with loose hands and some length. In BP, shows an all fields and flat/ground ball approach, some barrels, 80 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.22 60. Defensively, shows clean and confident actions coming through the ball well at times. Throws from a high-¾ slot with a loose and full arm stroke, 80 mph from the outfield with some accuracy.

Dillon Campbell OF / 2B / Vinita, OK / 2020 A proportional 5-foot-10, 170-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a balanced, relaxed, and quiet set-up. Uses a double toe tap and a moderate leg lift with an arm-bar load before launching his hands on flat path through extension. In BP, shows a pull gap approach with occasional lift, some barrels early and mostly barrels late in his round, flashed some pop, 82 mph exit velo. Runs a 6.81 60. Defensively, shows aggressive and some quick twitch actions. Throws with a full arm stroke through a ¾ slot with developing accuracy at 73 mph from the outfield.

Chance Cox OF / LHP / Mustang , OK / 2021 A lean and athletic 6-foot, 165-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an open, upright, and slightly back leg heavy set-up  with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate leg kick and long stride before launching his hands on a flat path through contact with a high finish and some bat speed. In BP, shows a flat and gap-to-gap approach with occasional lift, some barrels, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 6.79 60. Defensively, is well advanced showing athletic, confident, and polished actions. Throws with a clean and full arm action through a nearly over the top slot with elite arm speed for his age and accuracy at 89 mph from the outfield.

Cameron Duncan OF / Poteau, OK / 2020 A 5-foot-10, 155-pound lean frame with room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, athletic, and back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses an arm-bar load and short stride. In BP, shows a middle of the field and flat approach, found a few barrels, 80 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.11 60. Defensively, tracks the ball well, takes good routes, and comes through the ball well. Throws with a moderate arm stroke through a near over the top slot with some accuracy at 74 mph from the outfield.

Simon Goehler OF / RHP / Owasso, OK / 2021 A lean and athletic 6-foot, 170-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy and open set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth and moderate knee-knock leg kick before launching his hands on a short and efficient path to contact with a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull side and line-drive approach, mostly barrels, 83 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.08 60. Defensively, shows clean, confident and athletic actions. Throws with a quick shuffle instead of a leg left with a full arm stroke coming through a high-¾ slot with excellent accuracy at 78 mph from the outfield. In the game, made two web-gem plays in the outfield including laying out with full extension to make a catch.

Dondi King Jr. LHP / OF / Edmond Santa Fe, OK / 2021 A physically advanced and muscular 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame.Offensively, the switch hitter bats from similar set-ups from both sides with a balanced, quiet, and athletic stance. Uses a reverse toe-tap load before dropping his hands and launching them on a slightly uphill path through extension. In BP, shows a pull approach, mostly flat with occasional lift and pull pop, 89 mph exit velo. Runs a 6.71 second 60. Defensively, shows clean and confident actions. Throws with a long arm stroke and some stiffness before coming through an over the top slot with accuracy at 76 mph from the outfield.

Bryce Madron OF / LHP / Blanchard, OK / 2020 A muscular 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame with quick twitch athleticism. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an upright, narrow, quiet, and open set-up. Uses a controlled and moderate stride before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path with bat seed. In BP, shows a gap-to-gap approach with some lift, all barrels, one of the best rounds of the day, 87 mph exit velo. Runs an elite 6.59 60. Defensively, Madron is an advanced outfielder that shows quick twitch, athletic, and polished actions. Throws with a moderate arm action getting rid of the ball quickly with accuracy at 81 mph from the outfield.

Piercen Mcelyea RHP / OF / Deer Creek, OK / 2020 A durable 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame with some strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an athletic and open set-up with some rhythm throughout. Uses a moderate and controlled leg kick and a big hand load before launching them on a slightly uphill path with length and a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field approach with some lift and consistent carry, almost all barrels, 83 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.70 60. Defensively, shows clean, controlled, and deliberate actions. Throws with a full arm stroke coming through a high-¾ slot with some accuracy at 79 mph from the outfield.

Griffen Melson OF / RHP / Cushing, OK / 2022 A lean 5-foot-10, 140-pound frame with plenty of room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy and slightly open set-up with some rhythm in his hands. Uses a big hand load and moderate stride before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path with some bat speed. In BP, shows a middle to opposite field and mostly flat approach, found a few barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.15 60. Defensively, shows some athletic actions and developing routes. Throws with a short arm stroke through an over the top slot with accuracy at 81 mph from the outfield. In the game, went 1-for-3 with a line drive single.

Trayson Miller OF / Roff, OK / 2021 A very projectable 6-foot-4, 170-pound lean frame with wiry strength and a lot of room to add size and more strength. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a balanced and closed set-up with rhythm throughout. Uses a slight arm-bar load and short stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with length. In BP, shows a middle and mostly pull approach with occasional lift and mostly barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.09 60. Defensively, shows clean, athletic, and polished actions. Throws from a long arm stroke through a ¾ slot with some accuracy at 77 mph from the outfield.

Keaton Ranallo OF / OF / Owasso, OK / 2020 A lean and athletic 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame with room to add more strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, athletic, and slightly back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a simple short stride before launching his hands on a quick and slightly uphill path through extension with bat speed and some barrel strength. In BP, shows a pull gap approach with some lift, mostly barrels, 86 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.10 60. Defensively, shows clean and controlled actions. Throws with a moderate arm stroke with excellent accuracy at 81 mph from the outfield.

Cade Sanford OF / 2B / Choctaw, OK / 2020 A 5-foot-11, 170-pound lean frame with room to add size and strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly wide and open set-up with rhythm in his low set-hands. Uses a small leg kick and smooth hand pump load before launching his hands on a flat path through extension with some bat speed. In BP, shows an all fields and flat/ground ball approach, some barrels, 82 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.5 60. Defensively, shows quick and aggressive actions. Throws with a moderate arm stroke through a high-¾ slot with some accuracy at 73 mph from the outfield.

Eric Thompson OF / RHP / Bishop Kelley, OK / 2022 A long, lean, and projectable 6-foot, 153-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly front foot heavy and open set-up. Uses a smooth load and short stride before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a flat and middle of the field, some barrels, 82 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.01 60. Defensively, shows deliberate actions, stays behind the ball coming through it and getting rid of it quickly. Throws with a long arm stroke through an over the top slot with accuracy 81 mph from the outfield.

Christopher Wall LHP / OF / Putnam City North, OK / 2022 A developing 5-foot-7, 125-pound frame. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from a quiet, narrow, and back leg heavy set-up. Uses a small leg lift and moderate stride before pulling his hands through a slightly uphill path through extension. In BP, shows an opposite field approach with some lift, found a few barrels, 71 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.28 60. Defensively, shows developing and controlled actions. Throws with a full arm stroke through a high-¾ slot with developing accuracy at 73 mph from the outfield.

Brandon Welch LHP / 1B / Porter, OK / 2022 A physically advanced 6-foot, 170-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright and open set-up with high set hands and rhythm throughout. Uses a big and smooth load before pulling them through the uphill path. In BP, shows a gap-to-gap approach with lift, some barrels, 80 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.45 60. Defensively, shows clean and advanced actions for his age. Throws with a moderate arm stroke through a high-¾ slot with accuracy at 79 mph from the outfield.

Daniel Williams OF / 1B / Destiny Christian, OK / 2020 A durable and much trimmed down 5-foot-11, 190-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an open, slightly wide, and athletic set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a smooth and moderate knee-knock load before launching his hands on a flat path through extension and a rotational finish. In BP, shows an all fields and flat approach, some barrels, 81 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.59 60. Defensively, shows clean actions, charging the ball well and usually getting behind fly balls. Throws with a full arm stroke coming through a high-¾ slot with accuracy at 71 mph from the outfield.

Gabriel Williams OF / 3B / Washington , OK / 2020 A durable 6-foot-3, 193-pound frame with some strength. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from an upright, narrow, and slightly open set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a slow reverse toe-tap, moderate stride and hand pump before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path to contact with a high finish. In BP, shows a gap-to-gap approach with lift and pop, mostly barrels, 86 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.68 60. Defensively, shows clean, controlled and deliberate actions. Landry Wilson OF / SS / Edmond North, OK / 2022 A developing 5-foot-8, 143-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a slightly open, balanced, and quiet set-up with a slight crouch. Uses a simple and smooth load and short stride before pulling his hands through a flat path to extension with some length. In BP, shows an all fields and flat approach, mostly barrels, 75 mph exit velo. Runs an advanced 7.06 60 for his age. Defensively, is advanced in the outfield for his age, showing good routes, quick twitch actions, with good feet. Always coming through the ball, using a quick shuffle instead of a crow hop, and getting rid of the ball quickly with a short arm stroke coming through a high-¾ slot with accuracy at 74 mph from the outfield.
