Today we released an updated version of Minnesota Class of 2019 Rankings, expanding the list to the top 215 overall. With an increase in ranked prospects in the state, there’s naturally going to be a group of names making their first-ever appearance on their state’s class rankings; along with slight re-shuffling of prospects across the board.

In all, 15 of the 215 prospects on the 2019 board have never appeared on a previous edition. RHP/OF Gavin McLaughlin (Rogers) was the highest new member to the rankings. The righty busted into the ranks, up all the way to No. 52 in his debut on the board; and nearly cracking the top 50.

Making a leap into the rankings; Ben Palmer (Totino-Grace) solidified himself as another above average shortstop in a class that is particularly deep at that position. Our first look at Palmer was watching him perform this fall in the MN Club Fall League, where he consistently performed at a high level, impressing numerous PBR scouts over five weeks.

Another prospect that jumped into the 2019 rankings was Rochester Lourdes product Brady Kraling. Kraling is long limbed with an athletic frame who was 82-85 mph, touching 88 mph, at the PBR MN Fall Review event in West St. Paul. Kraling has some rawness to his delivery; but oozes potential with his frame, arm action, and has above average life on his fastball that should continue to improve.

Amongst re-shuffling across the board; Mounds View product, John Solfest was the biggest riser in the rankings, jumping from the 130's to #62 in our update. The 2-way SS/RHP has continued to make strides in his game over the last two years; performing extremely well at our MN Fall Review event.
