OKLAHOMA PLAYER OF THE WEEK

As we prepare for the 6A-2A state tournaments, a handful of talented players from all levels turned in impressive performances From May 1st to May 7th. Standing out above the rest through was Oklahoma State commit Kale Davis. The right-handed junior from Westmoore produces no-hit, one walk performance. 

 

 

Kale Davis RHP / 3B / Westmoore, OK / 2019

The Oklahoma State commit was dominant as he tossed a no-hitter in the second round of regional play to help lead his team back to state. He struck out 11 and was one walk away from a perfect game in the five inning run-rule shortened affair.

Damon Burroughs, 3B, Pryor HS, 2018

The Cowley College commit stands 6-foot, 170-pounds. The switch hitter want 7-for-9 (.777)  with a double, a triple, two home runs, eight runs scored and seven RBIs.

4A
Austin Neal, 1B/LHP, Kingfisher HS, 2018

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Cowley College commit had a big week at the plate and on the mound. Offensively, the right-handed hitter was 8-for-15 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, five RBIs, four runs scored and a stolen base. On the mound, against a strong Heritage Hall team, went 6 ⅔ innings allowing only three hits and one earned run while striking out six and earning the win 3-2.

3A
Braden Meek, RHP, Chisholm HS, 2019

A 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame. The right-hander threw 8 innings in the regional tournament with 17 strikeouts in 28 batters faced and allowed only one hit and three walks.

2A
Bret Perry, OF, Mangum HS, 2019

A 5-foot-10, 190-pound frame. The left-handed hitter went 15-for-21 (.714) with four doubles, a triple, a home run, and 13 RBIs. Also, played perfect defense.

Chad Whitis, RHP, Roff HS, 2019

The right-hander threw a five inning complete game shutout to win the state championship and finished with a 10-1 record this year.

Honorable Mentions

Clayton Abercrombie, OF, Kingfisher HS, 2020
A 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter went 8-for-16 with two doubles, six RBIs, and four runs scored.

Rusty Beard, C, Dickson HS, 2020
Offensively, the catcher batted .429 to lead the team in the two games with a .500 OB Avg. Beard also drove in a run and scored two runs plus a stolen base.

Jordan Compton, SS/RHP, Carl Albert HS, 2018
The Oklahoma Wesleyan commit has a lean and athletic frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter when 6-for-9 (.667) with two doubles, six RBIs, and seven runs scored.

Zach Douthit, SS/RHP, Dickson HS, 2019
A 5-foot-10, 195-pound frame. The right-handed pitched 7.2 innings in a losing affair, but only gave up two runs while striking out 10 and posting a 1.83 ERA.

Clayton Frazier, 1B, RHP, 2019
A big frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter went 6-for-12 with a grand slam and 12 RBIs.

Lane Porter, 3B, Carl Albert, 2018
A lean frame. Offensively, the uncommitted right-handed hitter went 5-for-9 with (.556) with three doubles, five RBIs, and seven runs scored.

Garrett Wood, SS, Claremore HS, 2018
A 6-foot, 160-pound frame. The switch hitting Johnson county commit was 5-for-5 in the championship game and scored the winning walk-off run in the bottom of the seventh. He was 7-for-10 with two doubles, four RBIs, two runs scored and two walks for the regional.
