BENNIEBOYS GOLD

OF/RHP Andrew Talbert (Byron, 2027)
Talbert was one of the top two way players at the tournament this past weekend. Defensively, Talbert plays with a high motor and started off his weekend by making impressive plays from the left side of the infield. With the bat Talbert had a knack for making hard contact over the course of the weekend which only stood out more from swinging wood bats. His weekend on offense was capped off by a 1-for-3 performance with a home run. Through two appearances on the mound Talbert worked in the low 80’s with his fastball and tossed 3.2 innings not allowing a single hit while striking out seven batters.

C Haaken Hovestol (Delavan-Darien, 2027)
One of the top backstops from the weekend, Hovestol made a name for himself due to his advanced all around skill set behind the plate. A quiet receiver with soft hands that are able to steal strikes off the plate with relative ease. Also a soft blocker that deadens the baseball and is able to keep it in front of him with the capability to block out of multiple setups. Offensively Hovestol swings a powerful left handed bat geared for driving the ball in the air. Hovestol is able to easily repeat his swing without effort and drive the ball to all fields.

AHQ MCCabe

OF Noah Hallahan (Geneva, 2027)
Hallahan displayed a smooth glove at third all weekend and was put out in left field for the semi-final game where he showed fundamental footwork and made efficient reads all game. Not to mention, he showed very well at the plate after driving the ball through the gap for a triple where he showed his speed around the basepaths. He would go 1-for-2 with a walk on the day. He gets the foot down quick with his swing and is able to get his hands through the baseball well making himself a hard out for opposing pitchers.

Hitters Navy

C/OF Jack Spielmann (Milton, 2027)
Spielmann went 3-for-3 with a triple, double, and single and was also hit by a pitch and walked hitting in the leadoff spot from the left side in Monday’s semifinals. Showed athleticism with a shoestring catch in right field and beat out a chopper to second base in his last at-bat. Played second base as well, and was behind the plate on Sunday. Displayed strong positional versatility at all three positions.

C Levi Boivin (Neenah, 2027)
Boivin went 2-for 4 with a walk and two doubles in Monday’s semi-final game. Sees both fastball and breaking ball well as he was able to slap two doubles to left field that would drive in a few runs. Showed great athleticism and was able to get around the bases pretty quickly. Very strong on the defensive side of the ball as well, was able to make several run-saving blocks in the semi-finals and the finals, not to mention, he showed a lot of potential in his arm behind the plate.

INF Bo Brandner (Hartford Union, 2027)
Went 4-for-5 in the semi-final game and battled very well with two-strikes all throughout the weekend. Brandner did not make things easy on pitching in this game, consistently being able to poke the ball through any gap, sending the ball to both sides of the field. Also showed solid potential on the mound in this game as well tossing 2.0 innings to get the victory where he displayed a very clean delivery and had a fastball that sat 77-79 mph with a breaking ball that was 65-66 mph.

LHP Zachary Steichen (Brookfield East, 2027)
Steichen threw five strong innings in Monday’s semifinals, finishing the contest allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out eight. The southpaw’s fastball sat 75-77 mph with glove side-run. Steichen also finished going 2-for-3 at the plate, including a two-out, two-RBI single in the eighth to extend Hitters’ lead.

INF/RHP Charlie Wronski (Marquette University, 2027)
Wronski was a top performer on the mound this past weekend by striking out nine batters in 5.1 innings. Confident in two pitches working his fastball up to 78 mph with life through the zone and spun a curveball that he was able to land for strikes and expand out of the zone for his out pitch.

Sparks

INF Colin Campbell (N/A, 2027; Louisville Commit)
Campbell’s athleticism and pure arm strength was on full display in Monday’s championship game, as the shortstop made multiple tough plays through the left side look routine. Campbell’s range and poise as a middle infielder, combined with his game knowledge and leadership makes him an intriguing prospect in his class. Hitting from the left side, Campbell knocked in two runs with a crisp single in the sixth, and finished going 1-for-3 with a walk overall on the day. Shows great balance throughout his swing.
