Pogue Dominates as Eau Gallies Cruises to 10-2 Victory

The Sebastian River HS lineup had no answer for 2018 RHP Nick Pogue (Eau Gallie HS, FL) as the Eau Gallie Commodores cruised to a 10-2 victory behind his 14 strikeout performance. The Florida recruit pitched with confidence and attacked the zone as he mostly sat 91-92 mph with his fastball, touching 93 multiple times throughout the night. He also featured a 78-79 mph slider with tight spin and depth.

2018 RHP Zach Young (Sebastian River HS, FL) sat 89-91 mph, touching 92 with his fastball while mixing in a 74-75 mph slider and an 81-82 mph changeup early on, but several walks and errors in the field caused him to exit after only three innings. The South Alabama recruit struck out seven.

Up 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth, uncommitted 2018 OF Grayson Joyner (Eau Gallie HS, FL) stepped to the plate and delivered an RBI single to left to extend their lead to 5-0. 

2020 SS/RHP Trey Jackson (Eau Gallie HS, FL) then followed up Joyner with a two-run home run over the left-center field wall to push their lead to a commanding 7-0 lead. Jackson was a two-way standout at Preseason All-State and will be a solid uncommitted follow throughout the spring.

Up 7-0 and cruising, Pogue continued to dominate as he racked up the strikeouts. After tacking on another run and taking an 8-0 lead heading to the top of the 6th, Pogue would really make his only mistake on the night and be called for a balk, allowing the runner to score from third. It seemed to light a fire under Pogue as he struck out two more batters in the inning, touching 92 on his last strikeout and number 14 on the night. 

 2018 DH Carter Stewart (Eau Gallie HS, FL) drove in two more in the bottom of the sixth, stretching their lead to 10-1 on a single to right field. Sebastian River HS would push across another run in the top of the 7th, but that would be it as the Commodores secured the 10-2 victory and moved to 3-1 on the year.
