The NCAA signing period is slated to start on November 13th. With the start of the signing period upon us, we look to break down each individual Division I commitment from in-state prospects, where they are headed and what tools they will bring with them.

Boston College Eagles

Overview: Boston College continues to hammer away at the recruiting aspect of their growth. A new facility has made life easier in Chestnut Hill as the new facility has garnered a great deal of attention. They now can fight the recruiting battle in the powerful Atlantic Coast Conference. They are bringing in 6 arms, 2 outfielders, a catcher and 2 infielders

Brown Bears

Overview: The coaching staff continues to hammer away at the recruiting from all over the country. Brown Bears are bringing in a total of 7 players, 4 arms, 2 middle infielders and a catcher. Solid looking group.

  • Rappoli, looks to be coming into his own as a position player, bat should play at the next level. 
  • Quinn Rooks, should give them added depth behind the plate, looks to be a solid catch and throw guy.
  • Crawford, has a high motor, plays fast, top of the order type hitter, look for him to compete for at bats as a freshman. 

Bryant Bulldogs

Overview: First year Head Coach Ryan Klosterman and top assistant Ted Hurval, hit the recruiting road hard and fast. Bringing in a total of 8 players, 4 arms, 2 catchers and 2 outfielders. Looking to add depth, Bryant will be contending for another league title with this solid core of players.

  • Brett Wichrowski, a RHP, more of a sinker slider guy, arm action is super loose, lives in the bottom part of the zone with his mid 80's fastball, solid bullpen option.
  • Mark Scarmadella, a RHP from NY,  Mid to high 80's fastball, hard slider, stuff is electric.
  • Ryan Bradley, a LHP from Ma, pitch-ability guy, mixing in three pitches, adds and subtracts.
  • Damaurys Rodriguez, a switch hitting catcher, will play right away, a fast-twitch athlete, will be a weapon on both sides of the field.
  • Stanley DeMartinis, a solid catch and throw guy, will add depth to behind the plate.
  • James Myler, an offensive hiitng outfielder, has gap power, look for him to be a extra base guy.
  • Alvaro Espinal, a local product, bangs in from the left-side, has an advanced approach, hits to all fields, can handle the bat. 

Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils

Overview: Head Coach Charlie Hickey and recruiting coordinator Pat Hall, did some damage with this years class. Bringing players in from all over the state, along with 2 from MA, and one each from NY and FL. Loaded up on 6 arms, athletic, fast twitch athletes in the outfield. Finished the class off with slick fielders and high defenders. One of the better recruiting classes in the Northeast.

  • Joey Rios, a legit two-way player, will be an immediate force right away, big time power from left-side, and has an above average fastball on the bump.
  • Josh Taylor, a hitter, can play all corner positions. The hit tool is advanced, tough, battles at the plate, extra base machine.
  • Jake Neuman, a LHP from Southington, is the most ready to log serious innings on the weekends. Pitch-ability is above average, can get you out multiple ways.
  • Kyle Gordon, a toolsy, fast quick outfielder, has plus tools, look for him to compete for at bats early.
  • Daniel Hussey, a LHP, has made huge strides in the last 6 months, fastball is consistently in the upper 80's, with more feel with breaking stuff.
  • Jack Clancy, a local product from Meriden, has solid catch and throw tools, good defender making pitchers better. Offensively, handles the bat, look for him to get early innings.
  • Justin Adorno, solid defender, projects more on second base side.
  • Andrew Paradis, is an offensive outfielder, line drive hitter, contact guy.
  • Jordan Valentino, high ceiling, major projection, may take some time, but shows above average power and tools.
  • Joseph Frammartino, is a high level athlete, plus speed, simple contact from left side, look for him to make an immediate impact offensively. 

Connecticut Huskies

Overview: Connecticut continues to bring in top level talent from the Northeast. Coach Penders, concentrated on depth of the pitching staff, bringing in 9 arms, 2 middle infielders, 1 catcher and a super athletic outfielder. The arms are all high velocity guys, and position players are athletic. Lets take a closer look.

  • Phoenix Billings, a LHH, can play all over the field, a high end athlete, ball jumps off his bat, big time athlete, top quarterback in CT.
  • Adrian Siravo, a RHP power arm, fastball up to 94 mph, look for him to work out of the bullpen.
  • Bryan Padilla, is a fast-twitch athlete, defends at a high level, look for him to play quick in his college career.
  • Bobby McBride, a RHP from NY, electric arm in the upper 80's, can really spin the baseball, hard slider, has legit stuff.
  • Calvin Ziegler, a frontline RHP, fastball is 88-90, with a big time hook, look for him to compete for innings on the weekend at some point.
  • Kory Morton, a RHH, super athletic, might have the most tools in the class. Can run, throw, juice in the hands, look for his game to take off quick.
  • Leo Socci, a RHP, coming off of TJ, can really spin the baseball, fastball has been up to 90 at times, look for him to bring depth to bullpen.
  • Mitch Pascarella, a RHP, more of a bullpen arm, attacks with two pitches, shows good sink to his 86-88 mph fastball.
  • Hector Alejandro, a RHP, Fatball is 88-90 mph, with a power hammer, look for him to compete for innings right away. 

Dartmouth Big Green

Overview: Dartmouth does such a nice job on the road, it isn't hard to figure out why they are so competitive each season. They have commits from all over the country. This years class is no different, as they bring in 3 arms, 2 infielders, 1 outfielder and a catcher.

Fairfield Stags

Overview: Once again the coaching staff for the stags, targeted  4 right-handed pitchers and 2 lefties, continuing to add depth to the already solid pitching staff. Position player wise, went after 2 outfielders, looking to add speed and depth to that position.  Along with bringing in an experienced power bat, to play first base. This years class will build momentum moving forward.

Overview: Coach Blood and, staff, bringing in 7 players from New England, 4 pitchers, 1 two-way arm, a catcher and middle infielder. Looks to be another solid class, lets take a closer look.

Harvard Crimson

Overview: The Crimson have made there way back to relevance rather quickly under Coach Decker. The recruiting is the life blood of any program and he has it going. This years class consist of 6 players, 3 arms, two infielders and a catcher. Look for Harvard to compete every year for a title in the Ivy League.

Holy Cross Crusaders

Overview: Coach Dicenzo continues to produce solid team year in and year out. The Crusaders have a done a nice job on the road in the summer, as they go all over the country to sell their campus. This class consists of 4 arms and 4 infielders.

  • Brendan Jones and Jake McElroy bring much needed versatility to the roster.
  • Payton Sutman is an under the radar arm with good projection. 

Maine Black Bears

Overview: Coach Derba and company are putting together a solid nucleus of players to build on for the future. They have concentrated their efforts in the Northeast and have flourished in getting a number of the better players in the Northeast. This season they bring in 2 arms, 4 infielders, 2 outfielders and a catcher.

Merrimack Warriors

Overview: Merrimack is making the jump to Division 1, and this class is a good step in the right direction. The class consists of 3 arms, 3 infielders and 3 outfielders. This is the first class of many to come that they must build upon.

Northeastern Huskies

Overview: Coach Glavine and company once again show well on the recruiting front. They are bringing is the right amount of players and helping them develop appropriately. This class consists of 11 players, 7 arms, 1 infielder and 2 outfielders.

  • Yost and Reilly should be the most ready for the gauntlet, as Gemma, Scotti and Burris all should be close behind.
  • Viera is the lone infielder who should be able to step in a play right way.
  • DArakyj and Hoog should push the current outfielders for at bats and innings. 
 

Massachusetts-Amherst Minutemen

Overview: The minutemen have a very good class coming in this year as they proceed to build year after year. The coaches have worked hard to identify and get commitments from many of the talented kids in New England. This class consists of 3 arms. 3 infielders , 1 catcher and 1 outfielder

Overview: Coach Herring and company are going to keep beating down the door to the American East Championship, and this class should aid the process. The class consists of 6 players, 3 arms, 1 infielder, a catcher and an outfielder.

Quinnipiac Bobcats

Overview: Head Coach John Delany and recruiting coordinator Pat Egan, worked long and hard on this years recruiting class, bringing players in from all over the Northeast.   • Matt DeRosa, solid looking middle infielder who can play on either side of the bag, contact guy at the plate. 
  • Julian Ueijema, super athletic left-side infielder, could move to center with ease. Strength with bat, field to field, with plus legs.

  • Thayer and Levesque, both from CT, should see innings right away, Levesque has a chance to be a weekend starter with his 3 pitch mix. Thayer has bullpen material, offensively, has juice in the hands, good chance he finds himself getting big at bats.
  • Anthony Panissidi, plays like he's on fire, fast twitch, high defender, competes in the box, look for him to play right away.
  • Brendan Harris, can really hit,  looks to go to all fields, advanced approach.
  • Jonathan Jones, a LHP, flashes a mid 80's fastball, with usable secondary offerings.
  • Robert Butler, of RI, has solid catch and throw skills, look for him to compete for at bats.

Overview: Head Coach Nick Restaino went after 3 arms, 2 catchers and a legit middle infielder. The 3 arms will add depth to the pitching staff and look for the two catchers to make an immediate impact.

  • Tim Cotter, off the mound, pounds the zone with two-pitch mix, fastball is in the mid to upper 80's, along with a gap to gap approach at the plate.
  • Michael Hernandez has a chance to be a legit pro prospect. The arm strength is advanced, 90 plus across the diamond, should be able to hit right in the middle of the line up.
  • Michael Boyian is a strike thrower from the right side, breaking pitch is above average.
  • Tyler Galleti is a solid catch and throw guy.
  • Jake Babushak a right-hander, with a live arm, will see innings right away.
