On Sunday, September 20th, we hosted the 2018-2019 Prospect Showcase at Grand Park in Westfield, IN.  A total of 39 players participated in the event.  Below we analyze the pitchers from the event.

IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER
 

Chandler Banic, LHP, LaPorte HS, 2018: 6-foot-1, 140 pound southpaw throws from a high ¾ slot with a long arm action.  Good balance point with regular effort in the delivery.  Has good rhythm with level shoulders.  Good line to the plate.  Fastball has occasional run at 76-78.  1/7 breaking ball shows gradual movement at 60-61.  Changeup was thrown with near fastball arm speed at 68-69 with some fade.  

Kyle Callahan, RHP, Zionsville HS, 2018: 6-foot-2, 195 pound righty pitches from a high ¾ slot with quick arm speed.  Drop and drive delivery with some effort and rhythm.  Shoulders are uhill.  Fastball was straight at 80-83 and kept in the zone.  10/4 breaking ball has late action and thrown for a strike at 71-73.  Changeup was erratic, down in the zone at 74-77.  

Nicholas Carrizales, RHP, Whiteland HS, 2018: 6-foot, 150 pounds pitches from a long high ¾ arm action with above average arm speed.  Has a stab on the back side.  Good balance point with regular effort in a drop and drive delivery.  Possesses good rhythm with level shoulders.  Good direction to the plate.  Fastball was 82-83.  Breaking ball comes in at an 11/5 shape at 67-70.  Breaking ball tended to miss up in the zone.  Changeup was thrown with near fastball arm speed with some fade at 73-75. 

Trey Cochran, RHP, Lafayette Harrison HS, 2019: 5-foot-10, 153 pound righty pitches from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Arm action is long with a wrap on the backside.  Regular effort with some rhythm in the delivery.  Shoulders stay level, falls off towards 3B.  Fastball was a little erratic at 71-73.  Breaking ball was 62-65.  Slows his arm down when throwing his changeup.  Changeup sat 58-60 with occasional fade.

Harry Deliyannis, RHP, Bloomington North HS, 2019: 5-foot-10, 130 pounder pitches from a high ¾ slot with above average arm speed.  Short, loose arm action.  Good balance point in the delivery.  Smooth rhythm with level shoulders.  Stays in line with an athletic finish.  Fastball was straight and thrown for a strike at 76-77.  Breaking ball showed more of a downer type action with sharp break at 64-66.  Changeup has sink, but erratic in the zone at 67-70.   

Cameron Dennie, RHP, Plymouth HS, 2019: 6-foot, 155 pound right-hander pitches from a high ¾ slot with quick arm speed.  Arm action is long.  Tilt/topple delivery with regular effort and smooth rhythm.  Shoulders stay level and has good direction.  Fastball has some run at 77-79.  Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape with sharp break at 64-66 and thrown for a strike.  Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed showing sink at 69-70.  Slider has a 10/4 shape at 66-69.  

Justin Doyle, RHP, North Oldham HS (KY), 2019: 6-foot, 170 pounder pitches from a high ¾ slot with a long arm action.  Easy effort with smooth rhythm in the delivery.  Good direction to the plate.  Fastball has occasional run at 75-77 and thrown for a strike.  Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape with gradual break at 61-63.  Changeup was 68. 

Jim Forde, RHP, Munster HS, 2018: 5-foot-11, 145 pound RHP pitches from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Delivery is a little rushed.  Good direction to the plate.  Fastball was 72-75.  Breaking ball has a 10/4 shape sitting 66-68.  Changeup was 68-71. 

Marcus Gholston, RHP, Valparaiso HS, 2018: 6-foot-2, 187 pound RHP pitches from an over-the-top slot with quick arm speed.  Arm is loose.  Regular effort in the delivery with some rhythm.  Level shoulders and good direction to the plate.  Fastball was straight at 79-81.  Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape showing gradual movement at 60-63.  Changeup was straight with occasional fade at 68-71.   

Ryan Hackworth, RHP, Leo HS, 2019: 5-foot-11, 190 pound righty pitches from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Arm action is long.  Has some rhythm with easy effort in the delivery.  Level shoulders and stays in line to the plate.  Fastball was 73-74.  Breaking ball showed gradual movement at 62-65.  Changeup was thrown with fastball arm speed and was straight at 66.  Showed a 59-62 mph slider and 63-64 knuckle ball.  

Luke Helton, RHP, Whiteland HS, 2019: 5-foot-11, 170 pounds pitches from a high ¾ slot with above average arm speed.  Long arm action.  Shows some rhythm with regular effort in the delivery.  Level shoulders, falls off towards 3B.  Fastball has some run at 75-77.  Breaking ball shows an 11/5 shape with gradual break at 60-62.  Changeup sat 63-66.   

Parker Maddox, RHP, Columbus North HS, 2019: 5-foot-10, 162 pound RHP possesses quick arm speed with a long arm action.  Drop and drive delivery with some effort.  Has some rhythm with level shoulders.  Tendency to fall off towards 3B.  Fastball was 80-82 and thrown for a strike.  Breaking ball has a 10/4 shape with sharp break at 64-68.  Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed with cut action at 70-73.   

Tyler Owens, RHP, Noblesville HS, 2018: 5-foot-10, 145 pound righty pitches from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Arm action is loose.  Good balance point in the delivery with regular effort and some rhythm.  Good direction to the plate.  Fastball was 77-78 with some run and sink action.  Breaking ball shows an 11/5 shape with gradual break at 64-66.  Changeup was straight and thrown with near fastball arm speed at 73-74.

Riley Perlich, RHP, Ft. Wayne Carroll HS, 2018: 6-foot-5, 210 pound right-hander throws from an over-the-top slot with quick arm speed.  Slight stab on the back side of the delivery.  Regular effort with smooth rhythm in the delivery.  Good direction to the plate with level shoulders.  Fastball was kept down in the zone at 81-84.  Breaking ball has gradual movement from a 10/4 shape at 63-66. 68-70 mph changeup was thrown with fastball arm speed showing arm side run. 

Hunter Robinson, RHP, New Prairie HS, 2019: 6-foot, 205 pounder pitches from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Long action.  Shows some effort and has some rhythm in the delivery.  Shoulders are level and has good direction.  Fastball was straight at 74-76.  Breaking ball has a downer type action at 64-66.  Changeup has occasional fade at 66-68.  

Jackson Ross, RHP, Lafayette Harrison HS, 2019: 5-foot-11, 180 pound RHP pitches from a long, high ¾ arm action.  Drop and drive type delivery with some effort.  Level shoulders with some rhythm.  Fastball has occasional run at 73-75.  Breaking ball has a 10/4 shape with early/gradual break at 65-67.  Changeup was thrown with near fastball arm speed showing arm side run at 64-66. Also throws a 66-68 mph slider. 

Alex Scherer, RHP, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2018: 6-foot-2, 145 pound righty pitches from a ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Pie type arm action.  Tilt/topple delivery with regular effort.  Shoulders are level and has good direction.  Fastball has some run at 72-75 and thrown for a strike.  Breaking ball has gradual movement from a 10/4 shape at 61-62.  Changeup is 68-69.  

Adam Spalding, RHP, Floyd Central HS, 2019: 6-foot-2, 180 pounder throws from a high ¾ slot with average arm speed.  Arm action is long.  Shows some effort and some rhythm in the delivery.  Level shoulders, falls off towards 3B.  Fastball is straight at 68-70.  Breaking ball has a 10/4 shape with gradual break at 58-61.  Slows the arm down when throwing the changeup. 

Samuel Steimel, RHP, Sullivan HS, 2018: 6-foot-1, 180 pound right-hander throws from an over-the-top slot with arm speed.  Has some effort in the delivery.  Good direction to the plate.  Fastball was 76-79 and kept down in the zone.  Breaking ball shows a 12/6 shape at 64-67.  Changeup was thrown with near fastball arm speed showing late depth.  

Jake VonDielingen, RHP, Trinity HS, 2018: 5-foot-10, 140 pounds pitches from a low ¾ arm slot with average arm speed.  Long arm action.  Shows some rhythm with level shoulders and good direction.  Fastball was occasional run at 71-73.  Breaking ball shows an 11/5 shape with gradual movement at 60-61.  Changeup shows sink and fade, but erratic in the zone at 64-67.  

Chandler Wise, RHP, Wapahani HS, 2018: 6-foot, 165 pound RHP pitches from a long high ¾ arm action.  Drop and drive type delivery with smooth rhythm.  Shoulders stay level and has good direction to the plate with an athletic finish.  Fastball was straight at 79-81.  Breaking ball has an 11/5 shape with gradual movement at 64-65.  Changeup is thrown with near fastball arm speed with occasional fade at 66-67.  

Craig Yoho, RHP, Fishers HS, 2018: 6-foot-1, 170 pound righty pitches from a high ¾ slot with above average speed.  Arm action is long.  Drop and drive delivery with regular effort.  Smooth rhythm.  Fastball was 82-84.  11/5 breaking ball shows gradual break at 63-65.  Change was thrown with near fastball arm speed with fade at 74-76.
