Diamond Notes: Day One MAIS

The 2018 MAIS state championship got underway around the state yesterday. Today we look at several noticable performance from last nights action.

+ Meridian signee, Edwin Smith (Jackson Academy) went two-for-three with two runs scored and one walk.

+ Trent Tyre (Jackson Academy) went two-for-two with a double and four runs batted and a walk.

+ Hunter Stevens (Jackson Academy) went two-for-three with one run batted in.

+ Sam Ciaccio (Jackson Academy) threw five innings allowing five hits, two runs only walking one and striking out one.

+ Chance Lovertich (Jackson Prep) got the start and pitched for six innings allowing six hits, three runs and three walks while striking out three. At the plate the right-handed hitter went two-for-three scoring a run.

+ Mississippi recruit, Kelly Crumpton (Jackson Prep) went two-for-three with one run batted in.

+ Christopher Russell (Jackson Prep) was one-for-four on the night but came through big with a grandslam in key situation 

+ Jones County JC signee, O'Neil Burgos (Brookhaven Academy) was two-for-four with six runs batted in off of two home runs.

+ Tanner Watts (Brookhaven Academy) threw five and two-thirds of an inning allowing six his, two earned runs and two walks while striking out nine.
