Creek Defeats Legend in an Early Season Matchup of Two Top 5A Teams

Cherry Creek 6 Legend 5

In an early season matchup of top teams in 5A, the Cherry Creek Bruins came away with the victory over the Legend Titans 6-5, scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 6th inning.  For this early in the season, this was a well played back and forth battle under the lights at Double Angel Field.  When you have an early season matchup like this, the hope is the stars shine bright.  Fans were not disappointed as they were treated to several top performances on the night.

Cherry Creek was led offensively by Brice Martinez who went 2-4 with 1 double and 1 run scored, Tyler Schultz who was 2-4 with 2 doubles, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.  Tanner O’’Tremba, Brennen Dorighi and Jack Moss all added 1 hit a piece for the Bruins.  On the mound, Quentin Parr got the start and went 3.1 innings allowing 3 ER and struck out 5.  Jake Lawrence got the victory coming on to throw 3.2 innings, allowing 2 runs and striking out 6.

Legend was led offensively by Justin Boyd who was 2-3 with 2 homeruns, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, Kian Manmano added a 1-2 night with 1 homerun, 1 run scored and 2 RBI and Brody McCord added the 4th homerun of the night for the Titans.  Three Legend Pitchers, Jack Baird, Jake Sansing and Brody McCord combined for 13 strikeouts on the night.

Cherry Creek will be back in action Saturday, March 10th when they host Dakota Ridge at 10:00 am.  

Legend will hit the field again on Wednesday, March 14th when they travel to Arizona for the Boras Classic and open up against Red Mountain.
