Takes his time to gather himself to a balanced backside. Uses a high knee lift into an early hand separation. Drives downhill on plane. Shows good FB command. Ranged from 75-76 MPH and peaked at 78 MPH. Shows feel for a CB with command ranging from 68-69 MPH. And feel for a CH around the zone at 71-72 MPH. The 2022 graduate is a must follow.
ENY ASG (September 15, 2018)
Ran a 7.78 60 Yard Dash. Offensively - Relaxed, open stance in he box. Loads with a controlled leg kick and pulls hands back to create separation. Level swing that produces consistent line-drive contact. Shows a natural feel for finding the barrel. Hits the ball hard with ease. Exit Velocity was 87 MPH. Defensively - Quick and soft feet at 3B. Maintains control of his body while transitioning from fielding into throwing. Low 3/4 release point. Arm action on throwing motion is still a little long but Arm Strength has gone up to 75 MPH. Pitching - Balanced delivery with consistent direction towards his target. Keeps weight over backside as he gets into landing. Strong lead leg allows him to get quality extension on all of his offerings. FB was consistently 75-76 MPH and topped at 77. Shows heavy life. CB has 11/5 shape in the 64-66 MPH range. Manipulates his CB effectively, it should develop into an above average pitch. The baseball skills are starting to catch up to Bernard Jr's impressive physical talent.

Physical, proportional frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Offensively - Starts with an open stance, gets square to the pitcher as he lands out of his leg lift. Fastball sat 71-73 MPH, CB was 62-64 from more of a ¾ arm slot; moved across the zone with more of a slider /slurve feel. Delivered more consistent strikes from the the stretch position. Simplification of wind up mechanics may improve and add to his velo. Promising young player with plenty of time to develop.
