The inaugural Pennsylvania Travel Baseball State Championships concluded without a champion, as rain washed out the final day of competition, but twelve teams from around the region were still able to play from sun up to sun down on the Friday and Saturday of action. Over the coming week-plus, we will highlight some of the top performers and prospects from each team, continuing today with the...
Pittsburgh Outlaws
Oak Glen (WV) 2017 SS/RHP Noah Feicht used the middle of the field well in setting the table for the Outlaws all weekend out of the leadoff spot in the order. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound right-handed hitter went 4-for-12 with 2 RBI. The two-way prospect also showed ability on the mound sitting 79-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot. Feicht also showed command of a 74 mph slider and a 76 mph changeup with some sink.
Trinity 2017 third baseman Nick Hernberger steps in the bucket a bit and has some length in his stroke, but he stayed on the barrel almost every at-bat throughout the weekend, going 3-for-8 with two walks and nearly decapitating a 6-foot-4 pitcher one trip to the plate with a 90 mph exit velocity. The uncommitted senior also flashed a biting 64 mph curveball with 12/6 rotation during his time on the mound.
Canon-McMillan 2017 RHP Dylan Coyle was efficient and effective in a complete game effort on day one of the tournament. After allowing a triple and a walk to start the first inning, he retired the next 15 batters he faced on his way to striking out six against one walk in seven innings. Out of a high three-quarter slot, the 5-foot-11, 165-pounder's fastball sat 76-78. His mid-60s curveball lacked bite early on, but showed more depth in the middle innings, and he also mixed in a knuckleball.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 2017 SS/RHP Dylan Osheka got the Outlaws off to a solid start with five solid innings on the mound on day one. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound right-hander sat 76-78 from a high 3/4 arm slot registering 6 strikeouts while allowing just five hits. The uncommitted senior also showed a 68 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation and an occasional changeup at 70 mph in his arsenal.
