What’s New At The Top

Nicholas Chittum RHP / Grosse Ile, MI / 2020

Report: 6-foot-2, 194 pound RHP raised his stock as much as anyone during the Super 60 this February. Due to the corona virus that could have been one of the last times scouts were able to see him on the hill and boy did he impress. Displayed a solid four pitch mix while running his fastball up to 93 mph, although we have seen him up to 94 mph. His feel for his cutter was impressive showing the makings of a plus pitch.

The Risers

Juan Jose Martinez Jr. 2B / SS / Detroit Western International, MI / 2020

Report: 5-foot-10, 180 pound middle infielder has been known for his hardnose play and full throttle hustle. He was a standout at the PreSeason All State showcase earlier this month. Ran a 6.82 sixty on laser while posting an impressive 96 mph exit velocity while using a wood bat. Soft hands in the infield while moving well in the field. Showcased a quick release while throwing 86 mph across the diamond.

David Thurman RHP / 2B / Detroit Edison, MI / 2020

Report: 6-foot-2, 165 pound long wiry framed prospect showed well during the winter unsigned senior event. 86 mph infield velocity was among the leaders at the event however he shined on the hill. Easy arm action with deception while showing command of three pitches. Has easy velocity that will continue to improve. Currently uncommitted, has the stuff to get guys out at the next level.

Solomon McCants OF / SS / University/Southfield A&T, MI / 2020

Report: 6-foot, 170 pound prospect plays both infield and outfield. Arguably the fastest player in the state ran a 6.42 sixty this summer on laser. Displayed more power at the the plate during the winter unsigned senior games posting a 92 mph exit velocity along with a stronger throwing arm 88 mph across the infield.

The Sleepers

Sergio Guerrero Jr. C / 3B / Western international, MI / 2020

Report: 5-foot-10, 185 pound strong framed back stop shows quick feet behind the plate, smothering balls in the dirt. Athletic enough to play in the infield as well. Pop time has been as low as a 1.98. Shows some raw power at the plate with lift in his swing, 85 mph exit velocity.

Lawrence Price, III OF / 2B / U of D Jesuit, MI / 2020

Report: The 5-foot-9, 150 pound prospect is one of those guys with a high skill set, as he continues to physically develop he will continue to make strides to progress. Quick hands at the plate, makes a lot of contact showing the ability to spray the ball to all fields. Gets good jumps in the OF. He can help a college program, as he’s just scratching the surface of his potential.

Don’t Sleep On These Arms

Matthew Schmidt RHP / 1B / River Valley, MI / 2020

Report: 6-foot-3, 195 pound prospect was a stand out at the winter unsigned senior event. Under the radar prior to the event, however, he left with a lot of coaches knowing exactly who he was. Showed an electric arm with a heavy feel on his fastball he ran up to 86 mph. Sharp break on his curve and a sinking feel to his changeup.

Colin Seeling RHP / 3B / Eisenhower, MI / 2020

Report: 6-foot-4, 200 pound high waisted right hand pitcher has flown a bit under the radar, however he is still one of the top arms available. Two sport athlete plays quarterback as well, has arm strength was up to 87 mph on the hill. High upside arm will be highly sought after.
