Updated OK 2018 Class Rankings

The final high school off-season for the 2018 class has passed, and the spring is now kicking into full swing. It was an eventful winter as players in the class made adjustments and advancements, continuing to shape themselves into prospects. Movement in the rankings to start the spring was prevalent, including at the very top:

Top 3

Earning the top spot is Oklahoma commit Wyatt Olds (McLoud HS). The right-hander has been putting on velo quickly of late and showed a fast and whippy arm at the PBR Super 60, sitting 90-92 mph with run then ranging 91-93 and touching 95 mph in the first inning just weeks ago. The slider sits 81-83 with East-West sweeping shape, spinning out at times. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame has some wiry athleticism and should continue to add velo as he fills out.

Moving up to No. 2 is Oklahoma commit Kohl Franklin (Broken Arrow HS). Another right-hander to see his velo jump, Franklin showed he sits comfortably at 89-91 mph with some run and tilt at the Super 60. He also features an advanced changeup in the low 80s and a developing curveball. With baseball in his blood, look for the 6-foot-4, 195-pound Franklin to continue to add velo and polish.

Rising to the No. 3 spot is Arkansas commit Caleb Denny (Owasso HS). The left-handed bat has advanced his game and body in the last year.  Denny has added a good 20 pounds, resulting in much more strength to go along with a shorter swing and a new opposite field approach. Hitting over .520 with seven doubles and a home run through nine games, Denny has shown the ability to hit for average and power so far this spring. Defensively, he is splitting time behind the dish and third base.

The Risers

During the winter and fall, a number of prospects have shown they deserved to move up in the rankings. While many made a jump, a few in particular took their game to the next level.

RHP Bradan Pierce (Enid HS), Cloud CC commit, shot up 44 spots in the rankings with the addition of velo, up to 89 mph, and a tighter slider. Pierce has been solid for the Plainsmen so far this spring.

RHP/3B Chandler Shapard (Heritage Hall) caught almost every inning last spring and rose 68 spots when he jumped on the mound and showed strikes at up to 88 mph with a wipeout slider. The Central Oklahoma commit has a projectable frame and loose arm and could continue to put on velo.

RHP/OF Chase Wetwiska (Bethany HS) rose 25 spots, the most of any uncommitted player in the class, and is the physical sinker-baller who showed he can throw strikes at 84-87 mph and spin a curveball and a slider.

Notable Newcomers

Previously under the radar, a few players have popped up in a big way. Below are a few of the notables that jumped into the top 50.

SS/RHP Tyler Watson (Stillwater HS) is a lean and quick-twitch athlete that will contribute on the mound and with the bat at the next level. The right-hander bats in the leadoff spot and plays shortstop for the Pioneers when he is not throwing in the mid to upper 80s on the mound.

SS Mason Lowe (Mustang HS), a two-sport standout, has really progressed on the baseball field and may choose to play it over football in college. Lowe has advanced athleticism and is a solid defender in the middle, while showing barrel control at the dish.

RHP Wyatt Sellers (Sapulpa HS), a NOC Enid commit, has been throwing strikes in the mid to upper 80s so far this spring and could factor in big for Enid next year.
