Outlook
Although the Royals lost some key components from their 2018 5A Title squad, The Royals bring back the meat of their lineup and ace of the staff which will make them team that could challenge to repeat in 5A this spring.
Offensively they will be paced by Justin Starke and Jacob Farrar who should anchor the middle of the lineup. Starke has been a major piece of the Royal puzzle since his sophomore season and arguably was the teams toughest out the back-half of the season in 2018. Farrar put together a really strong season as a sophomore last year and looks poised for a big season in 2019. Quincy Sippio should be a big piece again pacing the top of the order. Look for 2021 Nicholas Sober to build off a solid 2018 season. Buck Forbes could also see more at bats this season for the Royals. Kolby Birchett could also add some depth to the lineup.
On the mound the royals return ace Forbes who evolved into a huge piece of the staff last year and will assume ace role. The Charleston, WV recruit is one of the top arms in the area and will give them a chance to win every time out. The biggest question is how are they going to round out the staff. Keep an eye on youngsters Dylan Bowen and Konner Eaton who show a lot of potential on the mound. They will need those youngsters and a couple others to take hold of the No. 2 spot and fill out their bullpen. We like the core returners for this squad and their success this year is why we have them at No. 21 to start the season off.
