Two weeks ago, PBR updated the class of 2017 overall rankings. Our Overall rankings consist of the Top 400 players across the PBR network of states which is currently 34 states including Ontario. Our latest additions of North Carolina and Oklahoma changed the face of the rankings slightly, and with our newest addition of Texas to be included in the future 2017 ranks, it will shift even more. Having said that, Virginia has a strong representation in the rankings with 16 players representing the commonwealth. Let take a look at those that made the overall rankings.

Top 50 (1)

Tanner Morris (SS, Miller School)
PBR Virginia/DC was fortunate enough to see Morris at the Pre-Summer Trials in May and he continued to impress throughout the summer, both on the regional and national scene with impressive showing at multiple events. Morris also is the lone Virginia rep in National Scouting Director Nathan Rode's PBR Draft 100, featuring the top 100 high school draft prospects across the country.

50 - 200 (5)

Hunter Perdue (RHP, Grassfield), Matt Cooper (C, Norfolk Acadamey), Michael Ludowig (OF/LHP, Briar Woods), Kyle Whitten (RHP, Osbourn Park), Andrew Abbott (LHP, Halifax Co.)

As the Virginia 2017 rankings saw change, that was first evident in the Overall Rankings as all of the players saw movement in the rankings. both Michael Ludowig and Kyle Whitten saw their stock increase in the overall rankings. Ludowig is a very intriguing prospect with his skill set and speed as a position player and you top that off with his ability on the mound to get as high as low 90's....You could make a case that Andrew Abbott was the pitcher of the summer for the Evoshield Canes with his impressive performances in almost every outing...

200 - 400 (10)

Tyler Solomon (C, Battlefield), Anthony Simonelli (RHP, Millbrook), Erik Stock (IF/RHP, Greenbrier Christian), Evan Justice (LHP, Collegiate School), Mikey Polansky (3B, Hickory), Will Liverpool (RHP, Bishop O'Connell), Antonio Menendez (RHP/OF, Herndon), Nathan Perry (C, Bassett), Toma Shigaki-Than (RHP, Oakton), Conor Hartigan (OF, Millbrook)

Evan Justice was the biggest riser into the Virginia ranks moving high up the ladder and that also was the case for the Overall rankings as he made his first appearance into the fold. His 6-foot-4 frame from the left-side  combined with a more athletic delivery adds intrigue to how far the young lefty can go...Conor Hartigan is the lone uncommitted player from Virginia in the rankings and one of only a few uncommitted in the Overall Rankings at all. A wildly athletic outfield prospect with speed, arm strength, and continuing to develop at the plate...Watching Nathan Perry take BP was a show for us this summer as he displayed his power from the left side at the plate, then showing it in game as well with a long homerun to right field...Very excited to get out early to hopefully see Erik Stock, another top tier two-way talent in the state that should translate to college as a two -way player as well.
