Looking back at the past week for Prep Baseball, an updated National Top-50 Rankings dropped along with the first National Player of the Week for the 2024 season, baseball was bigger in Texas during the Prep Baseball Texas Invitational, uncommitted spotlights and more.


NATIONAL NEWS


 + On Thursday, March 7, Prep Baseball announced its first National Player of the Week for the 2024 season ranging from Feb. 26 to March 3. With a complete-game shutout striking out 18 batters and only allowing one hit, ‘26 LHP Gio Rojas has earned Prep Baseball’s national honor.  + Nearly two weeks ago, Prep Baseball unveiled its first National High School Rankings for the 2024 season. On Tuesday, March 5 the first in-season update went live seeing one team break into the top-3 and nine teams earn a spot in the top-50 after starting the season unranked. + On Tuesday, March 5, Prep Baseball announced its partnership with former Major League Baseball player and founder of Major League Mindset, Brandon Guyer to become the official mental strength coach. The partnership will feature live, virtual seminars for players and parents to help understand and implement mental health practices to overcome challenges from the game of baseball and life. Draft HQ

 

+ This past weekend VP of scouting Shooter Hunt made the trip down to Houston, T.X. for the Prep Baseball Texas Invitational. With talent all-around, several players caught the eyes of Hunt and other scouts as prospects for the 2024 MLB Draft. See which five prospects were able to set themselves apart in the latest “On The Hunt”.

+ In the latest edition of the “College Crosscheck”, Director of College Scouting, David Seifert and VA/DC Scouting Director, Jason Burton caught a glimpse of players from UNC Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Houston, Old Dominion and VCU. Featuring a potential 2024 MLB Draft prospect that can be taken day one, former JUCO players, a player to keep an eye out for in the 2025 MLB Draft and more. + Several schools within the NJCAA from the Carolinas rank in Prep Baseball’s JUCO Wire Div. I and Div. II top-25 rankings.
