December 12, 2019
Preseason All-State has quickly become the top Preseason event in the state of Florida. Last year’s event consisted of over 50 committed players and 2 players who were selected in the 2019 MLB Draft. This event is held for the top 2020s-2023s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.
We will begin to spotlight many of the top players who will be in attendance at this year’s Preseason All-State. Today, we continue with OF Aaron Saltsman (Rockledge, 2021). Scouting Report
Physical frame, bat and arm with 6.75 speed. Showed the elite arm in the outfield topping 91 with a quick release and arm action. Above average to plus athleticism in the movements with great feet. Offensively, he has lightning quick hands that generate tons of easy bat speed and whip. Stays behind the ball well with the ability to smash line drives to all fields. Present pull side power with more to come when he learns how to hit more and make more consistent contact. There’s a lot to like here and the physicality/quickness combo is easy to dream about. Registered an exit velocity of 95.
Physicality stands out. Looks noticeably bigger and stronger. Great combo of power and quickness showed with a 6.88 60 yard dash and a 94 MPH exit velocity. Lightning quick hands generate plus bat speed. Sometimes can be too quick and gets out in front. Stays short and whippy with great extension with hands through the ball. Quick arm and release in the outfield. Arm topped at 85. Big time athlete that can do everything on the field.
6-foot, 170-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder, strength throughout frame. Savvy baserunner, routinely timed up pitchers, stealing bases and taking the extra bag. Gap-to-gap type hitter with present bat speed.
Saltsman continued to find the barrel Sunday with multiple deep extra base hits. He is a bit undersized, but the frame is lean strength and he is compact through the zone with above average bat speed. He continued to show he'll be a bat to follow.
Stocky, with athleticism and quick twitch. He has a short, compact swing with present bat speed. Was on the barrel often and was 2-3 with a double and three RBIs in his first game of the day.
Athletic build, 5-foot-9, 160 pound. Ran a 7.11 60 yard dash. Defensively, he works under control. Will benefit from some added rhythm and a quicker release, but there is a solid defensive foundation. Offensively, he shows the ability to get ball in the air consistently, with natural loft and slight uphill path which will translate to power as he continues to mature and get stronger. Flashed present bat-to-ball, hit skills. Ball jumps off bat well and that shows in the 92 mph exit velocity. Above average to plus present power for class. Extremely high offensive ceiling.
